Sorry Wes that everybody isn't like, although I personally don't read the manual until I encounter a question/problem.

Maybe I'm an old fashioned kind of gamer, but I like reading my manuals while sitting on the crapper. Usually the most relaxing part of my day.

Ahem.

Always read the manual... but not before I play my first game. I read it after my first game, to fine tune what I'm doing .

I like to read the manual because it gives extra depth to the game and contains information I might not discover for myself for a long time. And I'm no dummy.
You, on the other hand . . . . Learn how to write.

It's not quite Civ 2 at all if you have read some of the firsthand initial impressions.

I like to first dive into the game without reading the manuel. If I get frustrated, then I'll pull out the manuel and use it as reference, but playing always takes precedence over reading the manuel. Later, after I've played a bunch of times, I'll read the manuel to absorb anything I haven't already.

some manuals are pointless... (manuals for 3d shooters all of which follow roughly the same control scheme and comes with a tutorial level anyway - usually)

others are well worth the read. Diablo 2's was beautifully thought out.... Civ's manuals are legendary..... and I always enjoy a good read

It all depends on the quality of work put into it. If it's just a trouble shooter + control scheme explanation then yeah, well, don't read it.

Does anyone else think Wes23 is the DL of a banned Apolytoner?
Can someone ban him or cancel his account? Please?

poor Wes must've had a horrible childhood experience involving a joystick and a manual which put him off one and addicted to the other....

With numerous spelling and gramatical errors in that post alone, not to mention the general lack of coherance, you have the hide to call someone else a "dumb arse" - someone who, unlike yourself, was actually making a valid point?

It's time for bed kid.
