Limited Edition Tin only in the USA?
Now when the people in Europe can´t get a copy of the Limited Edition Tin then I guess we "only" can get the Standard Edition. Are there a way of getting the Limited Edition Tin when you are not living in the USA? Perhaps we are able to buy it later on? Does anybody knows about that? Because I want the LE now!

only ordering it now via internet.
EB (and it seems also) amazon do not ship outside US so you will have to arrange it first to be sent to a friend of yours who would then resend it
CB ships LE outside US but they seem to be highly unreliable.

That would just be screwed if Infogrames didn't ship the LE worldwide , many anticipated games that include an LE ship with a large quantity, plus not that many people are going to buy Civ 3.

I pre-ordered the LE from EB about a month ago and there doesn't seem to be any problem with them shipping to Canada.

Apparently, americans are unable to ship any goods of a certain type by airplane after the recent -tragic- events.
Tin is probably considered to be a serious risk on board a plane.

CB?
I read that the americans will be served first, and that the LE is pretty much usa-only due to it's 'limited' availability in terms of copies. After the states have feasted upon LE, there won't be many tablescraps left to ship out.

I will buy a warez copy or probably even get it for free.
I don't like being descriminated.

If I ordered it from Amazon.com, then won't I get it? Why could you choose "Denmark" in the list of destinations then (or was that just an "outside US" option)?
What's the easiest way to change my order then? Just cancel?

The sad part of this fars is that LE/BTE "might"
be released in Europe in "spring 2002".
If it's true that US shops are not allowed to
ship the LE/BTE to foreign countries before
the standard Civ III (or even perhaps LE/BTE )
has been released on the customers local
market, that could mean a delay in the
European "preorders" from USA until...
suprise, suprise; next spring!
So that's what I call "excellent service",
"listening to the fans' demands" and
"ultra fast shipping".
Infogrames! I demand your attention!

If you have selected any kind of money card
as payment alternative, then just cancel your
order. They shouldn't charge you before they have
actually delievered the game.
If cheque/money order, then it's not so easy.
I suggest that you contact the bank that
issued the cheque.

I am not interested in the LE, anyway -just a waste of money.
But sure -this little nicety shows -once again- how much they 'care'.

Question: Subject: Civilization III
Message : ent-Type: text/plain;
charset="iso-8859-1"
Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable
I am living in Copenhagen, Denmark, and I am wondering if you at
EBgames are going to ship the computergame Civilization III Limited Edition Tin outside the USA, because I have pre-ordered the game two months ago from Amazon.com and they now say that they will not ship the game outside the USA. I am going to cancel my order with these bastards, and now I ask, if you are going to sell the game to people here in Europe? Then I will place my order at your fine store.
Thank you for your help.

I have ordered the LE quite some time ago at amazon, and just wait whether tomorrow I get the mail that the item has been shipped or not. It could well be that the "shipping" check is just at ordering time.
When I do not get this mail, I will ask them and if needed cancel. If I have to wait more than a few days, I will just buy it the 16th in some shop in town.

I ordered the LE from Amazon as well, and until *very* recently, they said that the item would ship internationally. The Netherlands, where I live, is a valid destination.
I don't know whether you should cancel. They charge your credit card when they ship it, apparently, so you can choose to wait. I will do so myself, until I can get what I want from someone/somewhere else quicker.

I pre-ordered the LE. If I don't get that, I will get nothing, until it magically drops onto my hard drive. I am NOT going to buy it with a Dutch manual in a DVD box!

Disenchantment outside the US.
Well it may be all nice and well for the North Americans but the rest of the world is still waiting. Not only are Infogrames not prepared to release the game at the same time in the rest of the world, they will not allow you to purchase it from the US. What the hell are they playing at? I have seen quite a few people's call to download the game via warez sites, and quite frankly, I can't blame you.
Isn't it hypocritical when they tell you not to 'steal' from these sites, yet they are quite willing to withhold a product that you want leaving you with no option. It stinks. I also follow Eli's thread and call everyone else in the world to acquire the game by other means until released. And even then, I would rather send the money straight to Firaxis and not via Infogrames on principle of their discriminatory corporate policy against the rest of the world.
I am prepared for my money to go to Firaxis, but not to Infogrames for their shoddy treatment of the rest of the world. And they are a French company as well! Yet this thing has been made so you can get it in the US and US alone, and I can't see a good reason why? Divide and conquer for some reason. Well down with Infogrames if this is the kind of sh*t they are going to pull.

French company
You know, it is not because infogrames is a french company that the french people will have the game before you. There is no release date for france right now. And the game does not exist on french website of infogrames.
So if you think you are not lucky what do you think of my position

Infogrames doesn't want people outside the country buying the US version because they're probably preparing European versions with different language manuals. Isn't that why games created by US development houses are delayed for release in Europe, because language and marketing issues are being resolved? If a large number of people outside the US simply buy the US version, then Infogrames is losing out on the costs they've incurred by preparing specific European versions of the game. By restricting the release, they stand a much better chance of hitting their sales targets on the European version.
Sure, some people will go to warez sites, but that's going to be hardcore gamers and people with loose ethics at best, a very tiny demographic... it may piss people off, but not enough to hurt sales in the international market.
I just don't see why more companies don't aim for simultaneous North American/Worldwide release... wasn't Alpha Centauri released that way? Globally all on the same date? I know there's been at least one game that had a worldwide release... if that worked before, I don't see why it can't work now.
