I am kinda new here so I don't know if anyone else has said this. But has ANYONE ever thought of using the Cheat Mode to create a scenario?

boy, you are new aren't you.
Might want to take a look first at the tips page on Scenario League before beginning a scenario. Lots of info there about creeating scenarios.

Ummm.... I don't know what archaic methods you had in mind, but the cheat mode has been used since 1996, when the game came out, to create scenarios.

In the days of Civ I we didn't even have scenarios People would sometimes send out their save games for others to play, but not usually.

...has anybody tried using cheat mode to create a scenario...
Oh my god! This is a new and astounishing idea! Before this, to create scenarios, we were forced to, uh...
..umm..
Rely on the Hitchhickers Guides improbability law? (Nothing is impossible, only extremly improbable... So if we started Civ2 a trillion times, changes are that the game screws up and produces a brilliant scenario at one stage)

Poor Nik! If he meant that post seriously, imagine how he must feel now - such is the irresistible charm and appeal of a scenario designing virgin...
Anyway, somebody mentioned something about making scens for Civ I. I do remember that there was a hack program available for people to switch tribes with an AI. So, if you were truly crap, you could play as the English or somebody equally isolated, faff about for ages on your little island, and then near the end of the game switch to the Aztecs or somebody with a huge empire. This would boost your score, but is considered heavy cheating and also rather unnecessary if you're any good

(note to self: take bull's-eye off chest, put on flack-jacket)
So now that it is established that you use the cheat mode to create, how about posting some links to sites or books that give explicit instructions and/or make recomendations for third party software to assist in scenario creation? I'm sure there are better resources than the manual that came with MPG! Actually, I'll bet that this has been posted numerous times if one new where to look!

The following note from WarVoid is posted on the Civ2-General/Community Forum FAQ Scenarios thread.
"John Possidente wrote an excellent book on scenario writing and even included a cd with a couple of his own scenarios.
FAQ, John worked for MPS and wrote a lot of the FW scenarios.
I highly recommend you get it. It's about $19.00 and you can find it at babbages. Or order it through Barnes & Noble.
BTW, if you have a question on creating a scenario, post it here, i'm sure someone will answer it. "
