I was reading a review for Civ 3, the reviewere said that there would not be a lot of new technologies (or very few for that mmatter) in the modern age. Now if call to power can have technologies that are very futristic (such as fusion tanks) why can theye be in CIV3 DO the creators want more of an emphisis on the "history"aspect?
I am glad they didn't add techs just for the sake of adding techs. That is why CTP 1 and 2 failed is because they believed more is better rather than the idea that less, well balanced, is great.

Civ Is History- that is what makes it different and that is why is has sold throught the years- Firaxis' Alpha Centauri Experiment did not sell as well as they would have wished- people can identify better with historical details... and it is more work to create plausible, polished, balanced theoretical technologies.
