I got it yesterday during my lunch break, but wasn't able to play until last night...and that had to be cut short because of tiredness and work today.
At first there was something I didn't like about the music and sounds, but then suddenly I realized that I had been playing for a couple of hours and hadn't thought about it again and it sounded fine then. Maybe I just had to get used to it.
I need to work on learning how to defend my territory and not just each of my cities. The Zulus declared war on me and immediately crossed over my border and captured 3 of my workers. That's worse then having them killed in Civ 2, because they now get a benifit from them. I was able to recapture one of those workers though.
I was able to get a map of most of the world just through diplomacy. So far I think negotiating with the AI works well. I was really able to benifit from my extra Iron. After the Zulus and I made up they approached me with a deal for Right of Passage. They were at war with the English, but myself and the Germans were between them. I decided to agree although was a little nervous about it. After agreeing I saw TONS of Zulu units going through my territory in groups and I got reports of the English loosing cities to the Zulus.
So far the only Civs to declare war on me decided to ask for peace after finding out that we could defend ourselves or fight back. That peace has been long term, not the cease fires of Civ 2.
Overall I'm happy with everything except not having enough time to play yet.
