When the game ends . . . .

I read that you can continue playing even after victory conditions are met and your score is calculated. I think a Firaxis staff member wrote that. I read a few posts by players, however, who said they were ticked off because the game ended in 2050. Has anybody finished the game, got the victory message, and then continued on playing past 2050?
Just curious . . . .

Yes,

I have made it past 2050!!!

You can go longer, I didn't even have the parts to make a ship at 2050, it took me to about 2150 to finish my space ship!!!

Once I played Colonization until after 3000 AD... that savegame is still existing, one of my classical Col OCCs
