Go to bargaining table with another leader.
On the bottom of screen is "clear table", "new", active". Click "active" to see current agreements with leader. I dont recall if it shows # of turns though. Would check if I wasnt at work.

thx you

when you're holdding down mouse1 to make a goto for a unit, you can cancel goto command by clicking mouse2 while you're holdding down mouse1

Hold down the 'shift' key during computer move phases, and they move at high speed and without sound effects.

I remember reading somehwere in the manual that
treaties / agreements automatically come up for
review or renewal after 20 turns.

When you have a Military or any other unit selected that can move of its own free will..

Pree E to Have it explore all black area's.

*works for military and sea units, Trimeirs /sp? will stay close to the land and not get themself automatically killed by traveling to far off coast*

Actually double click contacts that civ. I wonder if you can get additional information about civ other then what treaties it has with other civs. The info which I can not find is the relation between other civs (like polite, angry etc.) Also I can not find info on trade between other civs, like what is traded in when will it expire.

Not true. If the AI wants to cancel it, it will call you up. If it likes the deal, it will shut up unless you bring it up. Use the steps mentioned above by HalfLotus, and yes, it shows turns remaining as a (Number) before the deal... if no number, it can be peacefully cancelled by clicking on it. Then saying never mind.

This one's probably known to everyone but I didn't catch it after reading the manual and discovered it by chance.

If you get approached by another Civ and you say you'll meet with him you get asked a question and have to accept or decline. A lot of times I wished I could get away from the dialog and check some info first before answering. Just click on the foreign advisor's head and you'll get full access to all advisors.

Cool.

You can go check up info while another civ is waiting for an answer to a proposal he made by dbl-clicking on the foreign ministers head. In Civ2 you couldn't - you had to answer right away.

New/Active/Clear Table are not active things for me to click on... how sad... argh.. need to fix my text somehow

Normal or wartime mobilization. Details in the Civilopedia.

Great thread... I love the Shift-N command (haven't tried it yet)
But why are those commands not in the interfase as in SMAC?

Soren: I visit the cities less and less. Never for changing production. Only for taking a look or changing the work tiles.

It's funny that all of these tips are in the manual...some of the people who started to immediately flame Civ3 and claim it is "broken" because they can't figure out how to do this or that were saying "the manual is crap! completely useless!"

I've been trying to avoid going into the city screen whenever I can -- now I'm getting into the habit of shift-right clicking (which was covered in the readme, btw ), it's getting a lot better... not to say that is isn't normally a few clicks or look-ups-to-find-key-command's too many, but I'm managing to stay out of the city screen for everything except city-related functions.

PS: Soren/Firaxis/whoever's idea it was to make the shift-right-click change production command: One word -- Thanks!!!

Diplomacy
I found another hotkey...do not know if someone already mentioned this one....it is used within the diplomacy screen....
someone complained that if you are playing w/all 16 civs or at least more than 8 you cannot view their portrait in the dip. screen therefore you cannot see what peace agreements or wars etc they may have w/other countries...i found that you can change which civs showup in the dip screen by holding down ctrl shift first then right clicing on a the portrait of a civ that you want to change...after that a list will pop up and you pick which civ you want to show on the dip screen....i thought that was pretty handy...however can be very time consuming..i think........but it helps when you are playing agaisnt more than 8 civs...............................GenTomGun

Ctrl-G to revolt. Shift-U (or was that Ctrl-U?) when a unit is active to upgrade all similar units.

It's shift-U for all units, u for an individual unit.

Keep up the good work all :d: :d:!

PS: If you're finding a lot of this is all new to you, I highly suggest reading the key-command chart in the manual and also the readme that came with the game -- I did both, and there's only been about one supprise as to what is doable so far for me, though I couldn't always remember the exact keys...
