Inca cities
Hi, all!
I need pictures resources (but any info is also welcome) of ancient inca cities or buildings.
I assume there aren't any available city graphics which would suit for an Inca city, so I'm willing to draw one for myself.
Can anyone help me? Please?

hmm....
A long time ago, I tried to take a picture of a Romanesque church and make it into a city icon. However, it looked nothing like a Romanesque church after I had scaled it down. As a matter of fact, though, it did look rather like an Inca village, although I have no idea why. If I still have it on my computer, I'll post it here.

Yes, here it is. It looks a little like an Inca village, maybe.

Hallo, Hendrik!
Yes, I'm back. I'm doing fine now, but this last month I had to study a lot. I'll be doing my last examination on next friday, and then I'll be free again!
Thanks for your feedback. The first link is very interesting for my purpose. And I've already checked "Alba de America", but I'm looking for a more 'accurate' graphic.
BTW, I've got found more interesting links for your Internet Resources. Do you want me to post them here, or should I mail them to you?
Geo Dan, thank you as well. Yep, I think your city icon resembles somewhat an inca village. I like the 'elevation' effect (inca vilages were always on hillsides). I think I'll take your graphic as a guide.
I'll let you know very soon how my Inca city is going.

Use whatever method is easier or more comfortable to you. Wether email or forum does not really matter.
I'm glad I could help.

Hmmm... i think it's not a Inca village! It seems to me more alike the Matera's Sassi...
To jgv
In order to perform an Inca village, just modify the medioeval standard city first-two ones, turning the wood walls into stone ones...
P.S. don't forget the traditional "Inca niche" in the southern wall... i usually scan every pixel !!!!

Thanks, Prometeus!
Yes, your method could also work. I will probably use it as a support to the actual pics I am already working on...
BTW, what's Matera's Sassi?

Matera's Sassi is the oldest medieval quarter of Matera, in Basilicata, i.e. Southern Italy. It's entirely digged in the mountain's stone...

BTW, GeoDan, can i use &/or modify it in order to perform a Venetic or Italic village? See, i'm planning a full restyling for my "Cisalpine Gaul" scenario ( this 'll be done after my Kok-Turks' one )...

Ah... Basilicata... legendary bettlefields for the Gran Capitán (Grand Captain or Great Captain for English speakers), at the beginning of the 16th century.
Do you know who am I talking about, Prometeus? I wonder how the Italians called him, maybe Gundisalvo or Consalvo Ferrandi?
He was the greatest Renaissance general, IMO.

sure, use it however you want.
As a matter of fact, the city icon I made was based on a picture of the Church of San Vitale in Rimini.

Jgv, we italians simply refer to him as "Marchese di Pescara".

So here's my work... I'm now satisfied with this city icon, which I think is both accurate and suitable for the game.
Your comments?
Prometeus,
Marchese di Pescara? I think you're talking about another person. Marchese di Pescara was the one who led the Spanish at the Battle of Pavia (1525), and one of Grand Captain's most accomplished disciples.
Italian nobility titles for the Grand Captain were, as far as I know, Duke of Terranova and Marchese di Sant'Angelo... Maybe you heard those names before?
Please excuse me, I just love talking about Spanish 16th Century generals and armies...

Sorry, JGV, i checked better my books, i was wrong... It's like you say!
Neat work!!! A little attache: the wall stones were always of big size ( Sachsahùaman style ).BTW, the golden building is the Cuzco's Curicancha? ( kidding, kidding!! Inca builded a little version of that construction in every place they conquered)

Thanks for your quick feedback!
Yes, last city icon tries to depict big ica cities like Cuzco, which had gold and silver recovered temples, namely Coricancha and some others...
I'm not particularly proud of city walls. I might still retouch them... maybe make them look bigger and more 'ciclopeus' (does that make sense?). But the main work is already done...

Those are without doubt some of the best city icons I have ever seen! Simply amazing...! I envy you, I wish my cities would look as good as yours...
So when do you expect to reach the playtest part of your scenario? I'd love to play it!

Well, thanks a lot... It's great to hear that, Hendrik! Thanks again... Hey, I am almost blushing!
Well, I don't really know when my scenario will be ready for playtesting... There still a lot of work to be done... I didn't like the first map I made, so I've made a new one, and now I am making 'tests' with city graphics... Well, I prefer to perfectionate my work now, than to do a 'rush job'... Someone gave me that advice in this very forum maybe three months ago! Do you remember?

You should know that that advice came from someone who likes to follow the rules only when they suit him...
I guess you could call me a lazzy perfectionist.
But I know what you mean. It always takes ages when I do something, too. Just as in my current scenario.

Good work, I really like your graphics style!
I wonder whether I could use some of your ancient units (avaiable on your homepage) for an upcoming ancient scenario...?

Despite being ignored by many, le grand capitain was, no doubt, one of the best generals in history. But you know, he did not speak English or French...

Oh, and very good Inca cities (better than those in Alba ) Just a humble suggestion: they would look even better in a darker gray tone.

Have you ever listened to the song "Pizarro y el Inca" (aka Encounter in Cajamarca)? That song would provide an excellent musical background for you scen.

¡Gracias, Beto!
A darker grey... hmmm, I'm not sure about it... I will try, but then I'll have to make my background clearer!
