Another map quest
I have ask a couple of times in other threads for help with a Korean Map. I have seen Darth's Korean map and think it is a fine map, it just doesn't have the scope I want though. I want a map that includes Japan, Okinawa, Eastern Russia, and Manchuria + Whatever other parts of China that would be appliable.
Is it possible to edit a map with a hex editor? I have tried Map Edit and it will only expand the map north to south and not east to west. Does anyone know why this is?
Then again if anybody would like to try and make a map for me it would be greatly appreciated. I doubt this is going to happen though, so I am hoping somebody can help me with the expansion of the current map.

Problem solved. Go to my website, download my Manchukuo map, then use Map Edit and Civ2 editor to modify it at your pleasure.

The only reason I can think of is that the size or dimensions of the map are already so close the the limit that nothing can be added. There´s a max width of 250, the max surface depends on the version of civ2 you have. You ca change it in the "options" screen, if necessary.

Has anyone got any tips on how to make accruate maps? I'm considering starting an overly ambitious project, which will require a completly new map

To Case
I do a basic b&w pic, then scan it and put a 16 colors palette. I resize it to a max 100*100 widht and use Bmptomp utility. simple, huh?

That was the first time I visited your site, it is a very nice looking one and quite easy to use. BRAVO
I was also wondering how the maps that are converted with Bmptomp turn out. i.e. colors, terrain, and appearance.

Then how do you get the terrain that you want? Will the terrain editor in Civ work or do you do it manually with a graphics editor? I guees I am just too confused with this thing and will have to try it for myself.

The BMP palette is a maximum 24 color, but in 16 colors it works better. The color index number stab terrain tipe ( i.e. pale pink is plains, black is ocean and so on).

I downloaded it on www.civfanatics.com . The file name is BMPMP.
PS MAx size of the maps created with BMPMP is of 10000 squares only.

Can't find it there is a program there that calls itself MapUtility, it sounds about the same feature wise. I will try it.

I'm to lazy to start a new thread, so I'll just hijack this one...
Is there any programs which I can use to cut gigamaps down to size?
I've tried Mercators great mapedit program, but it can't load maps greater then 100x100

They've been disabled to reduce server load. There's a few threads on this on the Apolyton/Community board.
