100 Million dollar bug
Ok.. I certainly hope thsi bug is fixed. Its bit silly that you can extort soo much cash from a plink-a$$ civ. IF they had that kinda cash.. you'd think they'd be buying ME.. LOL
My game is effectively over.. with 100 million added per turn .. i think i ca safely bribe the world.. LOL
I can't believe really really basic bug like that got through. THANK GOD ther eis no multyplayer .. could you image the screaming...:P

Are they actually giving the money or did they just agree, but have no way of paying?

I haven't experienced this yet, but I have seen a screenshot. What he's talking about is that you are able to ask the AI civs for upwards of 1,000,000 gold per turn and they will happily pay it to you every turn, even if they don't have the money.

I would like to invite all members of the forum to a moment of silence. In short order I will declare a crusade against those who so blatantly abuse our lovely game and throw their computers out of the window.
All Civ III CDs confiscated will be redistributed to the needy. At my discretion.

The aztecs are now paying me 10000000 per turn.
Even worse.. their treasury had 9 in it. I still got paid 10000000 the following turn after the agreement.
Now going back to last autosave to protect the integrity of the game I was in before I tried this.

how did this bug survive? because the firaxis people actually played the game instead of tryingevery possible cheat they could think of... and, this is exactly what they shoudl have done, knowing the people on this site

It would have been nice if you had posted it with a spoiler warning in the subject line...

At first I did not believe this guy, now I did it myself. I demanded the Japanese to pay me 9999999999, and they agree, and I got pay every turn in that amount. WTF, the Japanese is alredy beaten up, they have no city left, (settles somewhere) and 0 gold in their treasury. And I still got paid that amount.
My game is totally ruined now. I can't believe this bug actually exists. They were supposed to check for this during debugging weren't they?
Another thing, when I tell my units to more to a spot which will take them 10 turns to get to, they just make the first move, and then stop. WTF???? I have to manually move those units each and every time? and what's more? I have to move each unit individually.
......
this game quickly gets tiresome, I'm greatly disappointed.

The "cheat" as such is that the computer nations are obviously losing nothing at all in agreeing to this. While extorting millions may be an extreme example, if you demand 5 a turn not only do you want your country to be richer but your target that little bit poorer and weaker. If they don't have to cut back on military maintenance or other expenditures its not achieving its objective.

One thing is for sure. I'll never use this. It would spoil the game completely.
This is a real bug indeed. But the give-all-cities with all warriors next to them and retakeing them the next turn comes close too.
//edit:// oh if it doesn't work above Regent I'm safe!

The designer notes are missing it seems, or perhaps the Thank You note was meant.

What's the betting that this bug will occur whenever you ask for an amount over 65535 (or maybe 32767).
Sounds like a classic signed/unsigned or overflow bug to me.

Limits like that were in Civ2 (not bug-related though) too; 255 units, 32767 gold... uhm and what else?
