Philosofical question
If Monarchy is included in the game but no one ever uses it, is it really there?

Seriously, what is the point of it? It takes as long to get republic, and I just can't figure out a reason to be king instead of president...

Or am I missing something? Is it for the warmongerers? But the corruption you get with it eliminates the chance of conducting a long term war... Oh well...

With the extra money you make you can increase the luxuries to 20% or so and get the same effect...

Well, its not too shabby in the corruption area as long as you don't have too many cities. And when all I want to do is wipe my neighbors off the map, rather than conquer them. . . . . . The free military is kinda nice.
