Cultural Victory?
I have over 86000 culture points and my nearest competitor has about 1/4 of the culture points that I do but I have not achieved victory??? Why?

Its not 100k, at least not on regent, cause I got past it a few turns and nothing. I'm kind of wondering myself. I love how the manual, help files and read me are seriously lacking in actual concrete numbers.

Isn't there something in the manual about one of your cities needing 20k of culture for cultural victory? I don't remember if it was an OR or an AND though.
Also you don't win if on of the other civ is close too you in culture points.
In my current game (1850 AD) cultural victory is the only winning option left for my civ. I don't have the power to dominate the world, the enemy is always 2 techs ahead, so no chance for a space race victory, my diplomatic position could be worse but i'm certainly not a global player. I have a hard time and I better not say on which difficulty level i'm playing...

It's clearly stated that cultural victory is 100,000 AND you have to be at least 2x as much as your nearest competitor.
My guess is you had over 100,000 but Ghandi or some dude had like 51,000 or higher culture.

The game that I posted about is over now and I ended up with 98500 Culture points. The Strategy guide lists that you need either a city with 20000 or have amassed 80,000 culture point to win. I guess that it's wrong on the last point.

I guess you get score winning anyway.
Culture winning is an interesting feature, and you are doing well seems. I'm in a regent game, year 1435, with only 9000+ culture. And my capital having 4200+ points now. It produce 50+ culture each turn.
The biggest rival is Babylonian which having almost the same culture points as I do. So my hope of culture winning is rely on my capital now. Based on your game, do u think it's still possible for me get the culture winning?
And did you acquire any rival civ's city by culture? I got 3 babylonian towns and one zulu town so far. Don't know if they bring in any culture points during the "switching".
