Thats useful. Now if only I didn't need the CD to install it it the first place.

Being in Europe procludes me from obtaining the CD for a little while longer.

Nope, but it is often used by pirates, since copyed CD can't be recognisable by the game (copy protection)

So, they put that file on that copied CD.
Players install the game, then overwrite original exe.
After that, game won't try to read the CD (& copy prot.), and since full installation is used there are no problems.
