No-Limits add-on
My modification of the civ2 multiplayer program is now in the Apolyton database. It is called no-limits and allows the program to create giga random maps up to 32'767 squares. It's definitely worth trying. Please excuse me for making my own publicity, but I think it is something that might interest all civers.
(and I will soon propose a ToT version).
A huge thanks to all those who tested it for me.

Downloaded, Huge mapper!!
I've been looking for this kind of "raw power" since so many months... it stopped me from making a >real< challenge for the AI's.
32,767? Sounds huge to me, almost Hexa's magic.
Thank's.

Well, it sure is a little (but only a little) hexawork.
For the magic, er ... I don't think so. But if a Halliwell sister is still single, I might be wanting to dwell on this subject.

Julius,
Mad props to you. Yet again the ingenuity of the civ community has extended the life of everybody's favorite game.

Do you by any chance know how to allow the FW map editor to handle gigamaps? I'm dying to make some gigamaps. But I can only do that using an image editor. I prefer the map editor. That way I can also have a look at gigamaps of others, too.

Well, no, the FW mapeditor, as the FW programm, can't handle gigamaps. I don't know how to change that.
And sending you only the MGE mapeditor wouldn't work. The mapeditor is linked with many other files, the terrains, the .dll and I think even the civ2.exe. And also, it requires a newer version of direct x. Compability is not easy. I don't see how it could be done. But a separate mapeditor would be great, especially for the possessors of ToT.
Mercator, the best thing avalaible is your great utility.
The only solution is to buy MGE, it should be quite cheap now, I hope. (err, it's not a satisfying answer).

Well, I guess I'll have to improve MapEdit a little so it can fully edit maps itself...

Yes, it would be really great. Especially for those who have only ToT.
