Jihad scenario
My scenario cd isn't working. I need to install the scenarios again. Any sites where I can download them? Or can u attach the jihad scenario on here so I can play it?

Other stuff: What's your best result in this scenario?

oh, now that is a nice scenario!

I have played it as Arabs, Byzantines, Persians and Franks, just Indians and Visigoths seemed a bit boring

And then, the Jihad track

Well, I can send you an email with the relevant files if you want

A lot of those scenarios on the add-on CDs were great, especially Jihad.

Jihad
I won in 731 with the arabs.
Never heard of anyone having won sooner than that (but it is perfectly doable IMHO).
Ready to play it again if someone feels like it (perhaps with another civ). It's more fun to compete.

I'm sure I have won that one myself at some point, but it must have been a bit later in the game than that

and Lars-E, a different tone would have been more appropriate...

Then what are you talking about?

I sent you the following PM:

"Jihad

I'm waiting for my files.."

If this is bad tone you sure must be sensitive!!

Anyways are you gonna send me the files you promised?

I didn't promise anything.

I said I could send you the files if you want. The first reply I get is a PM containing nothing but a harsh "Where are my files?"

If you think the little jerry doesn't deserve any respect, then don't expect any files of me.

I captured the last OBJECTIVE in 731.
The rule we have agreed upon between scenario players is:
1) If there are objectives, winning the scenario needs capturing ALL objectives.
2) If there are no objectives, winning the scenario needs capturing 2/3 cities.
This is to avoid boring endgames (when you own the whole map apart from 1 or 2 tiny cities hidden faraway in the black)

(La Fayette, willing to play 'Mongol' now, but ready to play 'Jihad' after that)

BTW Lars, I can send you a savegame, but I don't know how to send a complete scenario (sorry I think I can give sound advice in the field of strategy, but certainly not in the field of computer science ).

When and where were these rules for scenario players created?

AFAIK rule #1 (conquer objectives if there are objectives) has 'always' been in use. All those who played the Rome scenario (see my thread 'Delenda sunt') and all those who played ww2 with smaller civs (see my thread 'Arriba') had it in use.
Rule #2 (conquer 2/3 cities if no objectives) was agreed upon by those (especially arii, Marquis de Sodaq and myself) playing the scenario 'Discover' last summer (see my thread 'scenarios:conflicts in civilization', p.2)

I know you can give me sound strategy advice. I have read many of your posts. How is the trade-arrow strategy coming along??

Anyways I have made posts in civ2-strategy as well, but before your time. Solo commended me once for one of my posts... Good thing I told him in the next post that my tip was taken from Sid Meier's Official Strategy Guide.

Anyways the greatest civ2-player in the world is samson. If I had the money I'd pay him to teach me land in 76AD...Seems like he quit on Apolyton after he mastered the game. It only took him a few weeks if IRC while he was in reconvalesence.

Hope he'll come back for civ3 .

I agree, because:
1) He analyzed and discovered a lot (Xin Yu, oedo, SlowThinker,...also did that)
2) He used that in order to show us amazing results (Ribannah, arii, solo, DaveV, smash ...also did that)

I am currently playing with arii, solo, DaveV, smash and SlowThinker. And I know that oedo and Xin Yu are busy studying civ3 (because of posts written by them in civ3 strategy forum).
So this leaves us with samson and Ribannah missing.

Ribannah, princess of all the elves playing civ, is certainly busy with 'Might and Magic' #999.
...samson, I dunno.
Please samson, come back and help us studying the mysteries of civ3 (no hurry, as far as I am concerned, since I have no news at all about civ3 coming to my place soon)

(La Fayette, saying hello to samson and Ribannah)

no bragging
I didn't mention the Gits.
That was on purpose:
The Gits are so good friends that mentioning them would be almost mentioning me.
No bragging.

My CD-ROM is working again and I'm ready to play Jihad. Could you send me your 731 save?

When I start the Jihad scenario it says that the objective of the arabs is to conquer the whole world..
