Scaming warlike AI's.
Situation. You are next to an agressive AI who will not be dissuaded from attacking you.
Fine. make the following type of deal. For example, offer 10 gold per turn in exchange for a lump sum of 150 gold. AI will generally accept. When the AI attacks a few turns down the road, your payments stop, but you still have the lump sum the AI gave you.
You can even do a variation on this. Do the same thing with a less agressive civ, then provoke that civ to war.
