I wish there was a scenario mode like in SMAC or a cheat menu like in Civ2, so that any game mechanics or strategy questions I have can easily be answered in a sand-box mode like I used to treat the SMAC cheat menu. Having to go through a whole separate program (particularly with my already slow ass computer) sucks big time.

All I want is an addition to the editor, which lets me control how many years go by in a turn. I have problems reaching the higher techs before retirement in 2050. other than that, I think the game is great and don't really need a cheat.
If you really are having trouble with the game, maybe you should go play starcraft or something; those types of games tend to be easier.

If you hit shift->ctrl->alt->esc->delete, the game declares you the winner and an all-around great guy. Then you can shut down the computer and go outside for some fresh air.

Hit Shift-D to call up the Diplomacy screen.
Pick any nation you are currently at peace with.
Tell them you want to make a deal.
Choose Gold->Per Turn from their side.
Type in 1 followed by as many 0's as fits in the box, something like 100000000.
Demand that they pay you this much or you will destroy them.
They will refuse, but not declare war.
Keep clicking on the Demand choice. They will become annoyed.
Keep clicking on the Demand choice.
After about 20 or 30 times, the AI will AGREE!
Next turn, call up all of the AI players you have contact with and buy all of their non-capitol cities from them for about 500,000 gold each.
Kind of takes the challenge out of the game, but it actually does work!

And, with the billion gold per turn, you should buy a dictionary and an English grammar primer!
At least then, you might get something out of the game.

ROFL!
Rather:
"[I]k word_ doodziek van ir[r]itante [E]ngelstalige kutventjes die denken dat de wereld rond hun taalgebiedje draai[t], ... "
To the orig. poster: this is at least the second time you've asked for cheat codes. Obviously you are not interested in making scenarios, but only in good old-fashioned cheating. I say Blah.

What I miss from CivII's cheat menu is the possibility to swap civs in the middle of the game, or just let the AI take over your civ. Yes, I could actually spend another hour watching how the game turns out with the AI controlling my civ after I had got bored with one of my games.

I do understand that this is an intrenational forum, and that the internet itself is international. However, I also know something about communicating and making yourself understood by your audience. If you wish to be understood by your audience,it helps to have an understanding of their language-spoken if you are speaking, writing if you're writing.
If I were posting in a primarily Dutch forum, I would do well to know Dutch language and grammar, otherwise I wouldn't be able to make myself understood. Here at Apolyton, where most people seem to be communicating in English, it is a good idea for me to know English grammar-even basic grammar.
For instance, I can't tell you how many times I've seen people write something along the lines of, 'The AI doesn't know how to run they're cities (or there cities, or, occasionally, they cities).' Or, 'Make sure you have at least one unit in each of you're cities.' Or 'Your screwed.' (The scary thing is that most of these people come from countries where English is the primary language). Then there's the inappropriate word order (understandable from those who don't speak English as a primary language-many non-English speakers have different word orders. A Spanish speaking person would say, for instance, 'the dog brown' instead of 'the brown dog'.), poor use of tenses, etc. (I won't go into puncuation and capitalization, since many people do it intentionally, in order to be unique, as opposed to being ignorant of the proper uses.)
Certainly I don't expect everyone to know college level grammar and spelling-and certainly typos are expected and understood, but it is nice to make an effort to at least *try* and write properly in the language you are using.

I think you should be aware of the fact that the vast majority of the people posting on this board are not US and/or UK, Australia etc. residents - Europeans seem to have the lead.
And we are all trying to communicate in a common language - in this case the most wide spread/used English. So, please, nitpicking into some peoples (minor or not) grammatic/syntax/typos/whatever errors, is not excactly productive, polite or even welcomed.
People on this board - most of them, at least - are trying their ( ) best to write in a language that's not their prime.
Instead of nitpicking and insulting, you could do something more productive: Encourage them to improve. Agreed?

tmarcl,
thanks for changing your tone.
I would like it to write (speak) perfect english..........
but I don't have the time to study it ! (I should either live in england for years or study it for 4 years to be able to write it like any well educated englishman would do)
Writing in a language that's not your native language is just plain hard becuase you don't have the 'feeling' from start of.
I think I'm doing a pretty good job for a dutch man.
I can communicate in english. And I'm still improving. After paying civilization for 40 years, and communicating about it overhere for 40 years I'm sure I'll speak spotless english.
so far............ bear with it.

Honestly I wasn't trying to insult or nitpick-the initial 'Get an English primer' was a sarcastic as Cybershy's 'Let me cheat at everything' post. I probably should have included a smiley or two to make people aware.
Certainly I give the benefit of the doubt to those who don't write English as their primary language-just as I would hope they would give me the benefit of the doubt if I were attempting to learn Dutch or Spanish or whatever. Indeed, I've offered in the past to help people who wanted it.
My ire is usually directed at those who are from countries where English *is* a primary language and the people have lived there long enough to have learned the language. As far as I'm concerned, 1)They should know better, and 2) They're setting a bad example for those who are just learning. I apologize for any insult that folks took, and will try to be more clear in *my* communication from know on.

EDIT: Ok, I give up. The forum mechanics don't like me. I was attempting to quote Rosacrux's post in it's entirety, so if you need to, refer upwards two posts

As I mentioned to Rosacrux, my initial post was as sarcastic as yours. I'm sorry for offending you. For the most part, you do pretty well with writing in English. I can understand your posts without any trouble, and any errors I do see tend to be typos, or just minor grammatical errors. Something you might try, if you want to learn better English, is to have someone review your post for you. Ask them to point out any major errors and tell you how it was supposed to be written. Given your current level of fluency, there likely won't be much to correct.

i hope that you realize that a lot of people are on this forum to get info and strats for civ3, not show off their impressive english. as long as other people know what they're saying, then there is no reason to get all up in arms about it. i'm sure that if someone writes "your screwed" people assume it means "you're screwed." it's ok to make mistakes... look at me, i never capitalize cause it requires me to hit the SHIFT key and it is just easier to type and go. i'm lazy...
i'm in college, but i don't sit and complain about other people using incorrect grammar. the only people that i DO complain to are those who complain about others using incorrect grammar and then they use it as well. i'm not saying that you're using incorrect grammar, btw. anyway, just realize that a lot of these posters are from other countries and are much younger than myself or you. think about it...

Funny thing is, there are many native english speakers who have atrocious spelling and grammar... worse than many who have english as their second/third/whatever language.
I personally never 'officially' studied english, I just borrowed the entire Wheel of Time series from a friend and read it, first with a dictionary, then without Learning hebrew at the same time was pretty confusing though (my native language is russian).
