Its all very odd.
Well, it seems to me that if a captured city doesn't revolt and vaporize your troops immediately, then, since its improvements are gone, it will culturally defect anyway. In which case the enemy gets the city and your troops too.

Add curruption shake well and viola, not a game, but a chore. Not entertainment, torture. Not interesting and captivating, a frustrating bore. Oh for the days of specialists and caravans, spies and more.

I miss the zone of control. Now, only a horde of troops can seal victory, tech is meaningless on the battlefield, long live the spearman and the wonder chariot.

Naval units are too slow and what are they good for anyway on these goofy maps? Air superiority my dear, coastal fortresses in your rear, palace effects are hidden or forbidden unless you're near, and governments are now more like politicians, they claim to do things differently from the other guy, but we hardly see any difference one from the other.

Soren has turned the AI into tribbles. Soren, this is not Trek. Holy Harry Mudd and the 101 Dalmation...er, Egyptian encampments on turn 12. We have rubber(s) in the game but the programmer forgot to instruct the AI on their proper use.

Resources, oh my, I have four iron and 2 horses, salt and peter and cossacks and the Egyptian traded for ONE HORSE and ten thousand War Chariots have swept through my holdings like my wife with her credit card.

We have privateers that couldn't sink the tide-eee bowl man, remember him. At least he had only one shade of blue water, we have three or four but still can't irrigate till someone invents the electric pump. God forbid you find a valley ringed by hills, in Civ3 the rain must fall mainly on the plains.

Its all very odd.

We had great fun with the OCC challenge in Civ2. Sid, oh he of great wonder, snatched that away like a Silicon Valley unemployed computer geek snatching roadkill off the freeway. Thanks Sid.

But we have colonies. Kind of biodegradable. Toss one out beside the road and the next thing you know, poof, where did that darn thing go. Why did I make that anyway?

We have no airbases in Civ3. Thats okay cause planes never run out of fuel and crash anymore. Ships don't sink either, at least not if bombed by said planes. Ships don't sink if attacked by other ships either, but if you attack a galley with your battleship..."Bismark whats that? He sank your battleship, tough luck pal." That will teach you to mend your warlike ways.

Civ3 is much more politically correct. Even the barbarians are harmless, kind of stage props, mood lighting.

A nuke is a nuke is lollipop in this kinder gentler Civ.

Has anyone but me noticed that the pollution looks like split chocolate milk?

I am not saying the game is boring but gawd what I would give for a borehole or a boil of mind worms right now. A new volcano or a metor strike, Brian Reynolds we miss you man.

There are contradictions of course. It's perfectly okay to enslave the average Zulu worker, but if you drive your Chinese tank across the border ole Smokey will give you a ticket if you try to drive faster than a blue haired old lady headed to the beauty shop. Slow down there.

Now, I want to put my cannon on the mountain. If Moses could part the Red Sea, if Hannibal could use elephants to drag an army over the Alps, why can't I get my cannon up on the height. If old Bobby Lee were around he would get it done. Oops, confederation isn't a valid government in this version of Civ.

Its all very odd.

I was astounded to find a small wonder called Ironworks. Availble when a city has both iron and coal in its city radius. Soren, did you program this to come up often. Maybe that explains how come I had no strategic resources on that Austrailan sized island in a previous game. Marvelous, just marvelous.

Did I mention the map with a cluster of 5 gem laden mountains. Said mountain range being about the size of Europe, ringed by hills - kinda reminded me of Saturn. I gotta find Eric Rudolph maybe he can live up there. Grab a pick and ur buddy the Unibomber and mail out some sparklies please.

Built me a little tri-city complex around a big patch of flood plains and had em up to 12 pop each in no time. All together they produced about 5 shields taking corruption into account.

Where do the fireworks come from during the WLTKD when it happens before Gunpower is discovered? That puzzles me.

Lost one game and was informed that I could consider my lawn mowed. Doubtless my yard work will fare better this spring than the year SMAC came out...oh, wait, isn't MOO coming out soon?

Gotta go now, CNN is telling about the Northern Alliance invasion. Seems they have intitiated a Golden Age with a victory with their UU, the clunky camel, and I want to see if they raze Kabul and enslave some of those hot veiled Afgan chicks.

You are so anti-america that having a conversation with you would be poinless. You may or maynot feel you are an enemy of the United States, I don't care either way. However if I still worked for the Goverment I would turn over your e-mail address to my bosses and what ever happen, happens.

Perhaps English isn't taught in Ikea-land??? It's ok if you don't know how to express yourself in English, you can wright your response in your native tongue and we'll translate it. You did have a response, right?

try geting 3-4 workers of your own nationality to join the city. it will even things out. i've been doing this and i think it works

Excellent stuff, I hope Sid and the Gang read these comments and do something about them.

Consider copying this same story into the Help section. I think that is intended for the makers to read. I hope they balance the game by the next patch!

There is a lot of work to be done!

No?
Actually I'm doing you a favor, I assume you want somekind of intelligent posting going on here and Mr LaRusso is posting nothing but junk one liners usually degrading other people who doesn't agree with him.
(Save that one good modern era thread).

But I did my job so I'll lay off now.
