Hey you, Yes, YOU! ARE YOU READY FOR THE CIV3 TOURNAMENTS?
After around two weeks from civ3 release, I think lots of people know the game well enough to in order to start our civ3 tournaments.

Just like our civ2 tournaments the setting is simple

- one saved game starting at 4000bc
- people download it and post their saved games on a specific thread
- a Tournaments Manager(job opening!!!) will validate the submitted games and announce the winner

now since i think we'll have many submissions, we could make this run for two weeks(instead of the monthly period of the civ2 tournaments)

i also suggest that the first game is on warlord or that we have two games, one on warlord and on regent, with everything else the same

looking forward to your comments and suggestions

Hmm, all the AoK people seem to be popping up...

In Civ3 it appears the ruleset for a game is defined in the savegame, so it's not especially easy to mod it. Probably harder than rewriting the save so that you have 100000 gold at the start, for example.

I would definitely be up for some comparison games!

Good idea,

I suggest :

- Regent level
- Std. pangea map
- Roaming Barbs.
- 7 Random civs.
- Zulu player Civ. (for no other eeason than I haven't played a zulu game yet)
- Editet slower tech advancement and 5/8 hits for vet/elite units.

Edit difficulty
Just curious if there is a way to edit the difficulty in a game. That way we could have one save game and players could play it at the diff. they are comfortable with.
Would be nice for the maps to be the same.

Course then perhaps it would be hard to tell what diff. the game was actually played at if score is an issue.

I'm in on this, sounds like a great idea, haven't played Zulu's either . Start us all on the same map etc and let's see who can do what

That is not true (although it would be better). You can start a game and later changing the stats of a unit in civ3mod.bic and use the new stats in the game. I think only the civ strenghts cannot be altered after the game started.

So I don't know how that can be prevented, but I hope someone knows how, because a tourney would be much fun

I know the tournament has already started, but I have some suggestions that may be fair for all players.

1. Have different divisions for those of varying skill...a cheiftan division, a regent division, a diety division, and so forth...

2. Randomize everything you can...map, barbs, and the player civ. I beleive that would allow for more of a challenge, so no type of favoritism can be shown.

Those are my ideas. BTW, what would be the prize?

Tournament Manager
I would like to apply for the Tournament Manager position.

I've been a civ junkie since Civ2 came out (I was really interested in Civ1 but never could find it in Bakersfield, CA when I was younger). I have a strong grasp on most technical details regarding the Civilization Demographics (therefore I could offer tips to the best submitted files and have a good eye for cheaters or mod users), and the Top 5 city ranking system. I am checking the Apolyton forums bi to tri-daily; yes Civ3 is dominating my life. Pending the work load I may require a few assitants, I am a college student after all.

Alright, time to get started on the first map.
