I'm getting ready!
My copy of civ3 should arrive sometime this week. Natch, I want a full install, and somebody said that's 700 MB, so I have cleared some space.
Warcraft II BNE - never played more than a couple missions. gone
Dune 2000 - same. gone.
then I had 685 MB free. hmmmnnnn....
well, I never played Age Of Wonders much, so that will bite it until my next bigger hard drive.
970 MB Free!!! I'm ready!!!
Bring it on!!!

Father Beast, just reminding you that the game
needs about 700 Mb disk space for the files,
but it also need an additional 100 Mb for swap.
That means 700 Mb isn't enough, because you
also have to keep about 100 Mb free.
Not to mention that Windows also needs
free space for it's swap files (depends on
the version). Win 98 should have at 100-150 Mb
free on the drive. At least that should be good.
700+100+150=950, so I suppose your hard drive
will be too small.

Don't forget that save games can be as large as 4 MB each!
Hmm, I wonder if Firaxis plans to compress saved games at all? Those ware WAY to big, especially since you can use WinZip to compress even a 4.1 MB save into a <300k file at maximum compression.
I guess since HD's are so big now Firaxis didn't think they needed to work on optimizing save game size?
Bad idea.

Not really a problem. My windows swap file is on 486MB drive F, which is set aside for that purpose.
I got Civ3 yesterday (which is why I wasn't here yesterday), and it installed and ran fine. I just checked my hard drive, and I have 310MB free. I haven't tried checking it while the game was running, though.
BTW, I'll be posting my review of Civ3 soon, but I like it a LOT so far.
