Playtesters Needed!!
Dear Civvers!
I just got my scenario into a shape where I feel it could really benefit from some brave play-testers.
I've had some great suggestions already, what I need now is some people to play through it, tell me if anything breaks; if anything screams to be changed; if anything pops up that seems like it's a bug to be fixed.
I'm trying to get it into a condition where I can submit it to some collections around the web, so it can join the pool of scenarios for civII that we love to download and play.
So.. I'd like to use this topic for discussion your observations on the scenario.
It has a website: http://aspen.mine.nu/civ2/oldnew/
There are downloads available for mac courtesy of Henrik Lohmander.
Thanks in advance!

I'm also trying to organize a multiplayer game for the scenario. (It was designed to allow up to 7 players head-to-head.)
I would like to document the game, and put screen shots and chat excerpts on the "Old and New" website for fun; to give browsers a quick idea of what it is about.
I'm pretty flexible about the times to set up for the games. The scenario is 200 turns, so it will probably be two sessions.
I've got one taker already, and maybe we could set up a first session for today, Sat Jan 20, 1200 PM (1200hrs) server time. Maybe 2 hours or so for the first session.
If you can make it, or if you can suggest a different time, please post in this topic as well,
thank you!

The idea of multiplaying a good scenario is attractive, Snog, and I would take you up on it, except that, by the scheduled time, I will be otherwise occupied. If you reschedule, contact me and I will attempt to participate.

I'd just like to point out that the mac version available is an old one.
I'm converting the newer version right now.

Ah
Now I've sent the files.
Snog will probably upload them soon.
Edit:
I will have to take that back:
Snog has exceded his mailbox limit so my mail has been returned to me.
Hopefully he will see this message and do something about it.

By the way, Exile:
I heard you say once that I should try playing against a human player as the Spanish in "Modern Age."
I just may take you up on that sometime
Also:
Isn't there a group on the internet dedicated to playing multiplayer scenarios? Is that the CivII Scenario League? Where else should I advertise except for on this forum?

Snog, I asked around about people playing scenarios w/multiplay sometime ago and got no response at all. I like the idea, but for reasons of which I am not aware, it may be impractical. Yes, I would like to organize an mp game of Modern Age. It was designed w/multi-player in mind, but for 5 players, not 7.

I've played a multiplayer scenario before, where the match-making was done over the internet gaming zone.
When I used to play multiplayer more often, my means of getting a game together was a huge ICQ list where I could see who all of the known multiplayers was online and contact all of them.
I could try that approach. The main problem I have is this game is still in the play-testing stage, (although it has been scrutinized alot already by myself and others over the past month) so the people I want playing it with me are people that are at least a little design-minded, not just those looking for a fun game (although that certainly helps too! )
Still I have confidence that enough us actually like to PLAY, that we could get a game together. One of the attractive things about this scenario is that it has a shortened time-frame (compared to the overall game.), so we have a much better chance of actually FINISHING the game . It is also more intense (from the start) than most multiplayer games you will have played; if you have already tried playing it, you have seen that.
I think the best set-ups for this scenario as a multiplayer game are:
2 players: two Europeans or two Natives
3 players: two of 1 and 1 of the other
4 players: two of each
5 players: two Europeans and 3 Natives
6 players: 3 of each
7 players: All out!
The easiest civs to omit are the Europeans, because the game plays almost the same whether one European is playing or all 4.

I like the time.
Are you going to post your ip or how is it going to be done?
I'd like to play as the English even though they probably have the hardest starting position (of the Europeans.) 'cuz I've gotten used to them during previous playtesting.

My IP address is no big secret-- anyone reading these posts could probably figure it out-- but still, to not be blatantly obvious about it, I will send it out in private posts to each of the participants.

Believe it or not, Henrik, I still like the old meso-american city graphics better, but I'm leaving it up to the individual player.
One wierd thing: When I used that cities.gif you sent me all the barbarian cites turned light blue! That won't be hard to fix, but it scared me at first!

They aren't supposed to be light blue?
Hmmm...
In every copy of your scenario that I've received they've bin light blue.
I just thought that you liked it that way.

In my copy, they are grey.
I think the reason for them being light blue is in the .gif you sent to me, the bar above the barbarian flag is missing. It must have blended into the background during image manipulation. See for yourself. In my .bmp file there is a light-grey bar above the flag (I used index #15)

WOW
This is very wierd: upon close examination of the .gif file, the bar above the barbarian flag is a dotted gray line! Somehow the game has equated this with light blue!?!?
