Railroads somekind of teleports???
I fight japanese.... I make an invasion with 5 transports full of infantry and artillery (not much I know ). I land near a city and end the turn. Next 20minutes I have to watch all 60 japanise cavalries massacre my infantry. It's not that I didn't win it's those 20 minutes I have to wach how cavalry are killing themself and taking one point of health from my infantry. If I had won that battle, japanese wouldn't have anything left and I would've defeated ther cities in no-time.
Now my goal is not making the game "like in the real world"... Civ3 is ONLY a game so dont start talking to me that "in a year a unit can move by railroad 10 times around the world" I think it is just too way stupid that this war last for 20minutes - one turn. In civ2 computer sucked in war but even he had railroads he didn't send all his forces to massacre me. So the waging war was much more interesting in civ2 cause it was slower and you really had to advance.
So my suggestion is that unit can move on railroad double that he can move on road. so inafntry for excample can move 6 on railroad.
And A.I. wouldn't send all his men at one site.

1. Next time, land on a mountain site and watch your units massacre the AI cavalry.
2. I like the railroads the way it is.
3. Even Rommel tried to stop the Allied invasion "at the beach". Its actually a good strategy.

I can't say I have any problem with RR's. but of course I'm done warring by then.
I suggest taking the enemy city. They will not be able to get road/RR bonus because it is enemy territory.

I think RR being faster than Stealth Fighters is a bit silly. If roads give a bonus movement of 3, why not have RR give 6?
After all, had Rommel had the luxury of teleports, D-Day would have been a disaster.

Know why we won? Because the older generals insisted on keeping the main force inland, so they could respond to invasion wherever it occurred. Rommel wanted to keep them north of Paris, as he was certain the allies would use the strait. He was not listened to, hence the fall of Europe.
