Civilization 3 is my new best friend!

I have never ever played a game as much fun as Civilization 3 before. I have never in my life had so much fun getting the crap beat out of me! I only played the tutorial but I haven't read much of the manual yet and I never played any of the previous civ's

Story of my pathetic and hilarious demise:

I started out with one city and expanded slowly until I had about 4 citys and 1/3 of the continent. All of a sudden I had my culture go up and soon after the Roman's had citys handing themselves over to me! I had been peaceful with them before but I never though of the negative effects of taking the citys! The Roman's declared war on me and I was easily beaten back until my lines crumbled. I was on the easiest level and I couldn't win but I had to try to lose to get the computer to actually kill me because it wasn't very aggressive. The funny part is before I died my most advanced unit was the Legionare and I had barely made it out of the first era, IT WAS 1580!!!!! Anyways I hope I get better but until then I'll be satisfied exploring this game trying to learn all the ins and outs.

quick tip: treat the map as a game board, expand and control as much of it as you can early on, it's better to have 5 size 2 cities than 2 size 5 cities

from the off just keep spreading

keep your cities small at the start, no unhappieness, then improve them later
