I should get an agriculture bonus ...
I'm playing Germany and I shared a continent with France with a small land bridge leading to India and Russia. I managed to build a city on the other side of the land bridge and blocked it with fortifications.
Somehow, France got itself at War with every single other civilization through a domino effect of Mutual Protection Pacts, including with me. I had to pull back the land bridge troops to protect a city, and in doing so I pulled a plug holding back a vast army of Russian Cossacks and Indian War Elephants out for French blood.
I let them come through for a while, as I couldn't cope with France on my own, they reduced a city defence down for me to walk in, and then I watched them raze a size 7 city before my eyes, so I had a Settler quick on the spot to resurrect that one.
After I while I re-plugged the land bridge and France was wiped out, but I now had thousands of Cossacks and War Elephants rampaging around, the Russians and Indians shared the remaining French cities between them, one quickly fell to me through culture, so these units are packed away in size 4 cities on the coast.
All these damn Elephants and Horses, no wonder I'm having a bumper crop every year !
