Skanky Railways
Welcome to Skanky Railways!!
This mod is for all those people who think the railways dont look pretty enough. While theres not too much i can do about the railways snaking everywhere and generally looking messy, ive attempted to make them at least not as ugly...
The result: Skanky's BlueRail Mod!!
Never have railways been this blue
Enjoy, comments, complaints, (constructive) criticism, all appreciated...

So what does the future hold for Skanky Railways??
I have a plan for another mod, making all the railway tiles similar to those used in Civ 2. Every railway tile is straight, and all cross in the center. I might even do some requests, if anyone at all is interested in this... ??
EDIT: Broken link removed.

I did those colored railways first because they were the easiest to do. However, since your interested, ill make the civ2 style railways.

The red railway mod looks very much like blood vessels. Now all we need is a mod where the mushroom cloud from a nuclear explosion looks like the continent's bleeding....

How about British Railways, they use transparent rails as they are always broken down and never maintained
Seriously though, It would be good if someone could make a brush path paintshop psd file (the curved path system) so that to make a new railway style you just Strike all the curved paths with the desired colour thickness brush and hey presto, all the rails are made in a few seconds.

What about black with yellow lines that stall units? Okay, not funny, but you could make the black with lines, right?

My graphics mod and all the graphics mods around replace files in the civ3/Art/Terrain directory. This means that any scenario or save you use, it will still play with the modified graphics.

Making black railways: Yes
Making black railways with yellow lines: NO
Sorry, editing it on that level is just way too hard. Even the cut-n-paste civ2 style rails are taking forever to do, and this would be an order of magnitude harder.
Ill try making an all-black one, just to see what it looks like anyway.

I'll be interested in those modified railways as well... the standard ones were a bit of a let-down. They look way too much like roads and not enough like railroads...

Wow! While I was typing, the good stuff was posted!
Looks pretty good, except that the rails kinda seem to be 'hovering' above ground somehow... dunno why.
They're REALLY straight... maybe a little bit of swing in 'em will do it?

Good work on all the mods there shanky!
But I think I'm going to stick with the civ3 rails for the moment - the straight civ2 type rails just don't seem to "fit", know what I mean? They seem to hover, like Khab said. Good work all the same
