I voted 'could be better' because while I generally like the game it's not nearly what I was expecting. It seems that for every step forward they've made there's also a step backward.

Incidentally, does it suprise anyone that from the company that created Alpha Centauri with all its great innovations (and flaws admittidly) that they would incorporate so little of it into Civ 3?

up to now,
34 votes UP (first 2 answers)
30 votes AS GOOD AS (3rd answer)
58 votes DOWN (last 5 answers)

The general opinion did not settle yet, the game sites reviews are either stars or dust.
Infogrames stopped the free german translation.
Now I am starting to think the game might be a flop, that some positive recensions might be "biased", that the future belongs to the "official expansions".
I am starting to have a definite opinion, and it is not that good.
Anyway, I prefer SMAC. Yes, the unit workshop is boring, but the gameplay is IMHO more fascinating and compelling.
And besides, why suffer waiting for a patch to CivIII? Just wait for MoOIII.

Brian Reynold (the creator of SMAC) left with other important members of the original Civ developing team.
Sid ( ) just plays the game now.

seems like the poll is interpreted a little differently then I expected.
First 3 options are absolutely positive
the next 2 kinda neutral(with frst one directed to + and second one to - )
and the final 3 were supposed to be negative.

=> looks like those neutrals are the ones giving problems(as usual )
-->just tried if I could change that in the poll but it doesn't seem possible for me.
(else I would have changed those 2 to
-->Could be better, but still like it
-->Could be better,that's why I don't like it
-->Bye bye hope...back to Civ 2(and will play it again when I get borred of Civ 2 or just because i want some change)

Maybe there's a mod around here somewhere, who hasn't got anything important to do, who couldmake the adjustments?
(don't know what happens with those votes but maybe they could get split even => for the could be better )

thx
