Interesting finalists, one was a surprise. I did submit very high scores for two other stories, but I had to be reminded that those were posted after the 25th. That's why this is a weekly contest. Also, we didn't know what to do with succession game stories, which I though the Underground Empire was one. I liked that but did not submit a score for it. I'm glad it made the list, though.

I'm not counting succession stories because it's a bit complicated and I'm simple.
Oh Good Lord!!! I didn't realise the Underground Empire was a succession story. Bloody hell. What do I do now? Well, for this week just read the first section written by Zorkk. Base your vote on that one section.
Crap.

Can we put these polls up at the top every week so they are easy to find, I know an admin would have to do it, but as long as we PM'd them once it was up it shouldn't be too hard, right?

Having read some of my competitor's stories, I must say that my piece of literary garbage pales in comparrison to some of the others.
So many people have been writing some great stories about their games...it really makes playing civ 3 so much more fun. This is by far one of my favorite things to do on my computer when I am not playing civ.
Please, keep this contest up, it really brings out the best in people. And I would like to also thank anyone who has taken the time to write their stories. Civ 3 would not be as enjoyable if it were not for these story tellers.
Question...does anyone from Firaxis read these?

Im nervous. I guess I have to finish up quick! Is it ok to vote for myself?
After painful deliberation...I'm not gonna vote in this one. Doesnt seem right.

Grundel, I would not say that at all. I gave your story and Barfus' the same high score in my initial review. It is that good, so please keep it up.
Everyone else, I echo the same thoughts, please keep sending the stories in. Learn the art of storytelling just by reading the good ones here. Thank you again.

these are great concepts....too bad it takes a contest to get submissions....in classic games the story telling adds so much realism....think how great diplo games will be if ..... and its a big if ...mp ever comes out

War4ever- I don't think the Story Contest is driving the story telling, rather it is celebrating the story telling. I know I started the "Chronicles of Imhotep" before I knew there was a contest.
Grundel- Don't get down on your story! It was very good. Barfus, you too!
I liked the "UN Poker" concept as well. I think my next story will be in that same vein, episodic rather than chronological.
Some really good stories this week! Now, to vote...

Hawaii
I couldnt agree more. I think a brief snippet of a game would be better. Either that or a more condensed story of an entire game. But then, writing a long epic is kinda fun.
Though I started writing after the contest, I never figured Id be in the poll (I have a long history of poor writing qualities). But I always liked the CivII stories; and when I was reading yours the idea popped in my head that it would be fun to do. So I am doing it now. Mine's not done yet but it will be by my next post for it.
Anyway, thanks alot for the comments and I for one can't wait for Hawaii's next!

Heh heh . . snippet of a game eh? the UN Poker was inspired by not even a full turn of game play. I tried the diplomatic victory just to see how it ran and everyon but me and the germans voted for egypt. So, I felt compelled to write a story about how allowing elections is really all or nothing.

If I may make a suggestion for the next batch of stories...
If you back a few pages, there are 2 stories written by a guy named presidentmike. These stories are very well written, and I would love to see them on the voting ballot next time through.
