Destroying Wonders is it possible ?
i bombarded a city with a wonder in it for 80 turns...... just for the hell of it.... try as i might, i destroyed everything in the city except the wonder.
Population was reduced to 1, improvements were destroyed .....but not the wonder.
so is it possible to destroy a wonder without razing the city?
In civ1/2 if the city was size 1 and you took it , it often disappeared...that is not the case in civ3 unless you specifically raze the city.
Anyone destroy a wonder with the bombard option?
Anyone destroy a wonder and NOT raze the city in the process...
seems weak to me if you can destroy everything but a wonder...
that was one of the great tricks in CIV2 MP...destroy another civs city with his wonders in it..... eliminate him from having them and from having to survive his counterattack

Well, why not just raze if you want to eliminate the wonder? A wonderless city of pop 1 or no city, doesn't seem to make much difference.

thats not the point....the point is ...... bombard can reduce city size, defenses and buildings...as of yet i cannot destroy a wonder..... is this a bug or not possible...
i know i can raze the city......actually i have never razed a city with a wonder in it....i usually keep them..... anyone else been able to do this?

Why would anyone bother?
My guess is if you tried 80 turns and the wonder is still there, then it's not possible to destroy it. It's really the same with Civ2 -- unless you kill the city, the wonder isn't destroyed. You always destroy something in Civ2 when you capture a city, but it's never the wonder.
Just raze the damn city

War4ever, No, there is no way to destroy a wonder other than raze the city with it. It is written somewhere in the manual.

well then...razing the city is easier in civ3 than it was in civ1/2... and it still remains a viable option especially in MP when tactics become ruthless

You could capture the city and then abandon it with a worker...essentially a round-a-bout way of razing it, but without "upsetting" the sap you just hammered for 80 turns .

Wonders can't be sold or bombarded away. I'm not sure they can be razed, but, if so, that's the only way to rid the world of them. Most of us wouldn't try. Note, emptying the city by building a worker brings up an "Are you sure" box. So, even that may not be an option for cities with wonders.
