Blitz Ablility?
What exactly is the blitz ability? I noticed in the editor that several units have it, but I haven't figured out what it does.

A unit with the 'blitz' ability may attack as many times as it can move a la Civ2.

-Thus it simulates the German "blitz" attack tactic for their tanks in World War II- and allows civ to act at a deeper level than it had in the original.
A very good feeature if I do so mystelf.

Does anybody know if you, say .. attack twice in one turn, if you can get two status upgrades? One attack and you're a veteran, then another and you're elite?
I'm just wondering the mechanics of the blitz ... does it count as two attacks in every form, or just as one big attack for experience reasons ...
Cheers

am i missing something. none of my units have blitz ability. in fact, once i enter an enemies territory my units are only able to move one square at a time(that includes on roads or rails). i assume this is intended, although i have not found an explanation in the rules.

Units with more than one move (horsemen through modern armor) should be able to move two or more squares in enemy territory, as long as it's grasslands/plains, and not forest/hills/mountain.

Only tanks have it (Tank, Panzer, and Modern Armor).

having played a few more games, I have found that the one square movement happens sporadically, which means a bug is the culprit, adding to other small but increasingly annoying bugs.

Tanks can attack twice a turn, but in one of Firaxis' brilliant decisions, when attacking a stack and winning, driving back to the square it came from counts as a move. Therefore, a tank attacking a stack and winning will drive back to its originating square and stop (one move to attack, one move to drive back). If a tank attacks a lone unit and wins, it will proceed into the newly vacated square and be able to attack again.
