Anyone Notice the Infogrames Help Page Hint?
According to this page:
http://www.ina-support.com/faq/civ3_pc.asp
there are three hints...

Pay attention to the Civilization Chart on page 17 of your manual. This table shows all the special qualities and abilities each Civilization has available.
Build a Courthouse as soon as you are able. This structure reduces corruption in whichever city it is built in.
Build Ports when possible. A port gives you extra resources, as well as an extra tile for a unit to stand on.
More hints and tips are available on our Civilization III Hints page.
|
the final one is strange...
Build Ports? I don't know in which age ports are available...
And they give an extra tile?
Was this something proposed, but never reached fruition?

Ports=Harbor
The "ports" they are refering to is the Harbor which allows you to use an extra sea tile as a resource for your City.
The good thing about Harbors is the ability to trade over seas and its avalible early in the game.
2cents.

And best of all, MOST of the chart is even accurate!

Wait, I think I must be dumb, or something...
An Extra sea tile?
I only get 21 tiles to use, right?
the original 9, then three on each side...
I never have seen an 'extra' tile for harbors...
I use harbors all the time...
I don't think I understand your use of 'extra tile', could you please explain further?

"as well as an extra tile for a unit to stand on" doesn't make much sense. WTF are they talking about?

In your civ3 root directory, there is a file called README.TXT
As you can see by it's name, the file was meant to be READ by the players. Corrections and additions and other notes can be found there.
But you knew that right? I'm sure you also noticed that the manual's screenshots are based on a earlier (beta maybe) version of civ3, not the gold release.
As for the extra tile, I believe what they really mean, is the extra food it generates per ocean square harvested. Who even cares what some hints page says, that's damn desperate if you need to go to the corp site to get hints. As if apolyton wasn't packed with enough information.
BTW, this topic has been discussed over and over again. Try going a page or two deeper in the forum and reading the topics. Or try the SEARCH feature. I'm sure you can find another answer to your question by just "trying" to dig a bit.

Man, there sure are a bunch of elitist pseudo-intellectual snobs in these boards. If you're needing a little feminine attention because it's that time of the month, then stay off the boards. That or have another cup of java. Or possibly just answer the person's question politely. Or another option is for you to just lurk when you're feeling so cranky and shut the hell up.
PS - I am a newbie to these boards so all of you flamers may want to use something a tad more original in your scathing and , I'm sure, witty replies. Thank you.
