Great Jeff !
I'm really glad it takes that long before the patch is here.
That actually means it'll be a hell of a patch ! I'm sure we're going to love it !
And like yin kinda said, don't bother about the bugs. We love the game, not the bugs ! We'll stalk you anyway to create civ4, thus the community will go on !

I think that Grim was referring to the current Civ3 version, which is, indeed, 1.07f.
Anyway, good news. Let's just hope that this patch does not bring NEW bugs...

I just wanted to write this somewhere where it might get noticed by the patch-team;
Could workers 'hide' from boredom as they do from enemy soldiers? so you don't have to keep telling em to sleep when there's nothing to do, only to have to wake em up again to deal with pollution.
ahank- ahyor.

Not necessary. It depends from internal numbering rules for versions Firaxis developer team use.
Under some rules 1.16f means the same of 1.16.6 - where f=sixth (letter)
On a side note, my thanks to Jeffrey Morris for the promise of a "readme.txt" available in advance

That's what I wanted before possibly downloading the patch...reading what's in it, if it will effectively fix the important bugs without unbalancing the already well balanced game's core .
Btw, I like your Infogreed avatar LaRusso....

Get over yourself. I have two friends who have been playing this game and never heard of apolyton.net.
When I told them of the upcoming patch, one said, "a patch? for what? this game is great!"
Imagine that. The game is already playable and enjoyable.

You're right Ray K, the game is enjoyable and playable.
I just want to be able to determine the specific starting points for all the civs.
I really hope that has made into this patch and I don't have to buy an expansion pack in 12 months time.

...Except for the fighters. But in a way, that adds challenge to the game--not so much in the form of trying to win without fighters, as trying to win before they become relevent. That's worked for me every time so far, but now I'm playing on Emperor, and it doesn't work so well. Instead, I'm relying upon massive amounts of radar artillery, so the AI's fighters aren't put into use either...but I'll be happy to have fighters.

Is there something wrong with the inoffensive ethic of greed?
I'm glad he changed it, though. We had the same one.

Yeah, I guess we're more like the second mouse than the early bird.
The early bird catches the worm. But the second mouse gets the cheese.

Better put a smiley somewhere near that yin, or else some people might think that "don't fix what's broke" is your opinion.
Any news on scenario making fixes?

(Shadowstrike: Shhhh, I'm up to no good. Don't spoil it! )
Honestly, I would think that the QA director at a developer as famous as Firaxis must certainly know what he is talking about when he said the Civ community needs bugs in order to survive. That's why I think you guys barking for a patch should just sit down, be quiet, and enjoy the purposely buggy Civ3.

yum yum, bugs are tasty, bugs are crunchy....
bug stir fry
500 grams assorted bugs, diced
1 pack hokkien noodles
6 tablespoons oriental sauces to taste
assorted stir fry vegetables
1 tablespoon sesame oil
Heat oil in wok, and saute bugs. Add vegetables and sauce. Add noodles last. Serves 3-4.

Hey Yin do you have absolutely no desire to see if the patch will help things?
I'm askin' honestly and curiously, 'cause I agree with many of your points, though I think once the editor is really up and pumpin' the game will get much better.
Do you not agree???

I personally agree with you. Totally. I'm just taking Jeff's side in all this and trusting his theory that once the bugs are fixed, this website will be abandoned because we'll have nothing to talk about.
Right, Jeff?

Well, if the patch lets you do even more modding or even scenarios, I don't see why the civ community won't continue to flourish

Ah.. I see why.. But I believe his stuff on Koreans are pretty convincing. I didn't know Koreans were so interesting
Well, one of these days, we could always modify the game beyond specs following what we one. Honestly, at one time I thought there wasn't going to be a Civ III, and I thought it would be a really great idea to make a Civ clone with true separate races (rather than just civ with different coloured units and leaders).. but Firaxis did and put in cultures as the races.. oh well, I guess I'll truly have to master programming first before I could do something even like Civ III
