My great hope for the Patch is a fix of the editor to allow you to edit ALL existing features (improvements, Wonders etc and their functions) as well as an ability to add new features at will (ie new imporvements, units etc, with all NEW FUNCTIONS, if neccessary!!).
That, and a fix of the bugs will make me more than happy, 'cause then I can just change anyhing I don't like!!
Diplomatic agreements should also be editable (and, of course, a scripting langusge is a MUST!!!!!!!!!!!)
Yours,
The_Aussie_Lurker.

Right, Jeff?

It won't be abandoned, hopefully MP will come out before ALL the bugs are fixed(hopefully with most of the bugs gone for MP though). And then the site will be alive with MP discussion. And even if we have to wait till ALL the bugs are fixed for MP to be released people will still complain about the occasional modern unit that loses to a older unit ad nauseum.
Maybe we'll get lucky and MP will be released in a patch.

I am sorry, but MP is just to huge to be released in patch.
Only coding for PBEM & Hotseat is enough small to be released in some kind of patch.
Both CTP1 & SMAC got them in patch.
Still, they also had standard MP in original release.

Sorry, but you got the wrong info: Firaxis USED the LIST a a template for Civ 3... only they messed up the best concept somewhat
Probably was all fault of that 400+ Word pages not properly binded, that Brian Reynolds mixed in a vengeance move while leaving Firaxis... and not a single page number printed on the footer to help the new team!
(Just kidding... almost)

Not to get this kicked to the off-topic forum, but, there is nothing wrong with greed anymore than any other absolute moral ethic in that it ignores the complexity of the real world. But this is anathama to a Libertarian who implicity trust (fairly arbitrary) absolutes despite the universe's damned insistance to teach us that such things dont exist.
Dont get me wrong. Im not saying that the desire for wealth (greed) is immoral. Im just saying that an ethic based on greed must fall short of fulfilling human desires in several ways.

Dude, that stuff is so hard. Yes, the game would ideally support a scripting language so you could do all manner of stuff with it. Clearly they did no such thing. So any new capabilities need to be coded into the base system. This ain't gonna happen. Maybe civ4 will have proper support for this sort of thing.

Looking at some of the installed files, I get the idea that the foundations for scripting and scenario parameters are already in there. It's mostly just the user interface for creating scenarios that is missing.
Oh and in reply to other posts, greed (when it comes to Civ3 at least) is not a bad thing, after all - when we play Civ3 we all want to take control of the whole world... isnt that greedy
