Hello, everyone. It's nice to visit CtP2 forum once again after being away so long at Civ3.

This intrigues me greatly and is the reason why I have wondered over here.

Has anything come of this? Has anyone been able to deconstruct the CtP sprites in order to make a Civ3 flic animation?

Thanks.

What for? Civ3 is a sub-standard game. Why go backwards?

Don't condemn their game, and maybe they won't do the same to yours?

I actually like Civ3 and CTP2 in different ways. They both have a lot of potential, and obviously will (and are) be made better and better by the fans. I saw in one thread that people were seeing if Sir Ralph would be willing/able to create a sprite extractor. I'm interested where that will go, because there are some definintely usable units in CTP1/2 and I see no reason to not be able to mix and match units from the games. Besides, I really want the British rifleman sprite for Civ3!

James:

That's why I had the winky and the tonguey smileys. I can see why some people enjoy Civ3 over CTP2, but my personal preference is CTP2 for one single reason. I don't need to move 200 workers per turn in CTP2. But this is going OT now.

I knew you were kidding, and I wasn't being serious either, just putting in my two cents. I noticed it may have not sounded right after I posted, but was in too much of a hurry/lazy to add smilies, so here we go:

On topic:
I'm going to try in a few days to use the Hypercam to copy CTP2 units for use in Civ3, I'll keep y'all posted

Dale and JamesKirk, you're definitely right about some great things that CtP has over Civ3! Public works being one of them. It's unfortunate that the Firaxis team seemed to avoid anything CtP like a plague instead of pulling the best ideas out of it and using them to their advantage. I certainly wish I could mix and match certain elements from each game. Oh well.

My wife and I do enjoy Civ3 now, especially since the latest patch, and have gotten use to the interface and its many quirks.

So, now, my focus is on getting more units for Civ3 to fill in the obvious gaps. And, yes, James, I want that British Rifleman!!!

Thanks for all your help. I hope Sir Ralph continues his endevours as I neither have the time or expertise to perform these graphics miracles.

And, all of you are so right about the quality of Civ3 graphics vs. CtP. Ho-hum . . . . *sigh* oh well . . .
