Does the patch mean. . .
that the infinite forest exploitation (IFE) will no longer work? I'm not sure as to how it was worded.
Thx in advance,
Bismark

I'm not in favor of exploits either, but it seems reasonable that a forest could be harvested every fifty years or so. Probably not much more difficult to do than this new implementation, either. Instead of adding a flag to the square, store a value for last date harvested and set it to current when a forest is planted.
Best.

Barengrill (chortle - barengrill/down th' pub - what a pair of names), I can think of a couple one problem of your method the flag we have is just a single bit, a counter would have to be several, multiplied by 256^2 for the tiles so we need a bunch of extra system resources. Plus I always thought of the two shields representing forestry management. Here in Oregon, yes there are clear cuts, but in small areas at any one time. The trees are replanted and harvested again in forty years. The areas that are managed look like a patchwork with each patch being trees of a different age and no patch is anywhere near as big as a tile!
