Woohoo! Yeah!
Considering you're here, Firaxis guy, how 'bout them correct starting locations?

Does the patch overwrite civ3mod.bic? Or does it just change certain settings?
What a pain if I have to redo all my tweaks

Re: Civilization III v1.16f Available!
Anyone wanna place bets on how long it takes Venger and Yin to start whining about this patch?
Of course, they should probably actually install the patch, first. But when has that ever stopped them from making stuff up? I'll give them about half an hour for the first complaint to show up. Bets, anyone?
Anyway, it's good to know the patch is out. If it doesn't break anything, it should fix 80% of the issues I have with the game. The other 20% can wait for a couple of months.

The patch fixes the problem with loading in custom BIC files, so just rename your current civ3mod.bic to something else and you can load it in via the "Load Scenario" option on the main menu.
Since the editor was updated the patch probably does want to overwrite the existing civ3mod.bic file.

They were complaining before the patch was even available to download based off nothing more than the patch read-me.

I'm downloading it now, even at work... it's coming down very slow on the T1, and I'm guessing it might get worse tonight, and besides, I can mail it to my home email [cable connection with about 2.8 Mbps bandwith, muahahaha]
Thanks, Firaxis, and remember to keep 'em coming!
(Anyone who doubts this btw is a moron - SMAC had how many patches? And CivII? duh...)

Yippie! Just downloaded it at work and e-mailed it home, only took about 5 minutes to download, but I am sure that will change really quick. Thanks for letting us know the patch is up.

Getting it now...
Don't know if this will get any use though. I put my CivIII down a few weeks ago. Not sure these fixes will alter what made me stop playing in the first place. But thanks to the developers for giving us something.

It downloaded pretty fast (about two minutes, maybe three). It loaded my saved file just fine.
I haven't tested all the features yet, but right away, I noticed two things:
(1) the corruption levels are unchanged — they are identical to what they were before I updated.
(2) the population numbers are hard to read — it looks like you tried to put in some shading or something, but it didn't work very well
(3) the tech I was researching (Steel) did indeed take one turn longer, as advertised

Make sure you've advanced to the next turn. I noticed that when I tweaked the corruption settings and restarted a saved game, the corruption levels would not recalculate until the next turn.
Hope that does the trick.

New turn. No change.
Perhaps the reduction is extremely subtle, or is effected in some way by the configuration of my empire. But I see no difference between what's in my ledger and what's on the new screen. I even have corruption in my capital. (Democracy).

Sweet! After it downloads on my 26.4 connection I'll be able to install it in 4 hours! It's about time for a Satellite connection since I can't get a darn cable or DSL... $%#$#$&%^& boonies!!!! Glad it's here though, and it looks like a promising start from the readme. Thanks!

I can't wait to get home in two hour to download the patch, but until then I have a few questions patches.
1) Will I be able to play my saved games with the patch?
2) What will the patch erase when I install it? (I guess I could just find that out for myself by not zipping into the Civ3 folder right away)
3) Will you be looking for more ideas for future patches?
4) If the answer to question 4 is yes, then please visit the thread entitled "Desires For Future Civ3 Patches" to get an extensive list of ideas.

Damn, I'm on dialup as well. This patch is 7.3mb! Wasn't there supposed to be a smaller version of this?
But what I'm really here to say is THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!
I hope that wasn't too 'kiss ass'...

I'm running Communism in my game, and there is definately a big difference. Rather than one shield of production in my distant size 12 (I believe) city, I now have seven.
