I have the game, but never installed it. one of several that made me realize I have too many games.
I've heard some people rave about it, is it really that good?

Definetly one of the best games of all time IMHO.

Seems to have come from the TA unit database site - haven't been there in a while. One of the Mads (Monk or Viking had some good ones IIRC).

With the Core Contingency expansion pack (which added about 75 units) total units came to 220+ - and this was without fan-made or later-released units from cavedog.
Gotta love those Krogoths!
Apparently the TA-Kingdoms pair wasn't anything to write home about though ...

TA is way better than SC.
in starcraft you can miss in TA you can`t
you have many third party units in SC
LoL TA is really a better game.
and SC woud probably die without the Official website

I haven't tried it in multiplayer, but the single-player campaigns in TA were awesome compared to those in War2, AoE, AoK, and SC.

Multiplayer works fairly well- on the cavedog site they used to have a GALACTIC WAR going where hte core battled the Rim... It was extremely fun-
can you play the MP games on those links?
I havent' played the game in about 2 years

You really thought so? IMO the SP campaign storyline was the one thing that let this game down a bit - just eliminate the opposition in basically every scenario - unlike starcraft that seemed to have an interesting storyline.
Now the TA/CC skirmish maps OTOH were an entirely different matter ...

Great game. Total Anhilation and Star Craft are the only 'traditional' RTS games that I have ever liked.
There are some really nice TA mods / user created units out there, too.

Ah, sadly I have lost my installation disks, and was not able to transfer TA to my new computer.
If only they would make a TA II...
(And no, that medieval TA game doesn't count.)

TA is now available on those $10 software displays in...well, whereever you find those $10 software displays (what a sad fate--just let me grab two or three, just in case). I think CC is available at Chips And Bits.
I did post some site here, but due to die-offs and consolidation, Tomcat's links seem to be the best shot. One of my favorite sites was TAMEC (.org), which is now under the planetannhilation banner.
I love third party units. My personal favorite is the Chainsaw (the hyperactive AA missle battery that would mow down friend and for alike).
