How much value for a Buck?
Greetings Folks,
A question? How much value do we expect for a $1?

CIV III cost me about $35. So far I've played about 40 hours worth.

Thats about a less than a buck an hour for a great gaming experience.

All 'flaws' aside, my guess is I'll play about another 500+ hrs. of this over the coming years, just like i did with CIV/CIV II which works to what? Pennies per hour? Not bad.

Not all games give that much value... even those that are essentially flawless (The new Wizardry 8 for example... great game. Best sequel in the series. I might play it through a second time. Doubtful)

CIV III ain't perfect, but it's practically 'free' per hour and despite all the flaws, there aren't too many players who can pull themselves away from the game. Mindlock has been sucessfully installed and operating to perfection. (just one more turn! Honest Dear! and then I'll come to bed!)

I for one am incredibly satisfied with the game. (My wife is pissed off and joking about divorce again... I think it's a joke. After this turn I'll go ask her) Noooo... that doesn't mean it couldn't be better. The one feature in the editor that makes it possible to create scenarios and drive the replay value through the ceiling (placement of players) is missing. Once it's fixed? And it will be unless they're all braindead, which I doubt.

So? Congrats Firaxis. Good job. Good value.

Don't forget to deduct the time you spend sending workers all over creattion...in fact, send a bill to Firaxis because this is more work than play.

I just realized that it's harder work to play CIV 3 than to do my last office job.

I am glad that I got Civ3. If you look at most rts games or any other game for that matter, once you beat the game, which does not take very long to do, you dont play the game anymore. Thus only end up playing the game for a couple of days or how every lnog it takes to beat the game and thats it. With Civ3 though even if you beat the game once you play it again and again and again. You can play Civ3 hunders of times and not get sick of it. You cant say this for most games out there. I also think it is much better then most of the rts games out there.

$49.99 / 32h = ~1.56/h so far, which is quite a good deal.
