Problem with Archipelago settings.
When I choose any of the Archipelago settings its supposed to produce relativly large number of small continents. However when I choose that option I am invariably presented with a few large continents. Anyone else having this problem? I have always enjoyed playing on island worlds, and I have been disappointed that the map generator is not making them.

Thanks for your time.

Hmmm...this happens when you select the most ummm...Islandingest terrain type? I haven't found this to be the case. Of course maybe my idea of islands and your idea of islands differs.

Yes, this has been happening when I choose the Archipelago option with the most water (80% Ocean coverage). I still end up with lots of water and a few big continents. Last map had only 2! Really frustrating.

The island world switch works for me. The problem is that with islands you have an increased distance between cities and therefore corruption becomes more problematic. Also find that luxury and strategic resources are more scarce. Maybe a result of the reduced land area available? Not sure.

Yes, I too love the multiple islands, I only get continents. Is there a setting in the editor? At work and have not check?

Could the problem be related to map size? It works for some people and not others - so what sizes are the working maps, and what size are the non-working maps?

The sizes I have tried have been Large and Huge, and on those tries I dont really get islands but just a few continents with Archipelago and the most water option, so it just doesnt seem to be working right.

I generally play on small or medium map sizes. I also play on normal or 70% water coverage. Island generation has not been a problem. Maybe playing on less water coverage forces the production of larger islands that appear to be continents.

here's my experience

one game I played on a huge map (never finished it ) with archipelago setting. The island were so big they looked like continents- but I also had a low water setting.

Another archipelago game was better. It was a large map. It only had 1 medium/large sized continent, and the rest were islands. I ended up on the continent with 4 other civs. The other civs were on smallish islands and they were hampered by this for most of the game until they could spread out with navigation. This was on the largest water setting I believe.
