GRAPHICS: New Terrain Graphics
DECEMBER 18th, 2001 -- Version 1.0
Here is my remake of Civ III's terrain graphics. So far I only have grassland irrigation done, but I'll keep posting future versions as I complete other terrains.
Here's a screenshot to see the irrigation:

Please give your comments...
Enjoy!

Awesome, man!
I'm just wondering how does it look with roads and rails?
Keep it coming!

GREAT WORK!!
I was meaning to do something like this a few weeks back, but exams had to take priority
Now I'm almost done figuring out a good railway modification, this'll be the perfect complement. Just one request: could you do a version without the farmhouses and fences? Just for old time's sake (ie. as in civ2).

Looks really good, one quick question... how do roads/railroads look when overlaid with this terrain?

Yes, it looks nice.
Im looking forward to the irrigation on plains (if you're doing that), as i always irrigate plains. Keep up the good work
For those that wanted to know how it looks with rails...

If you want straight railways, look out for my Civ 2-style Railways.
Coming soonish...

I don't have civ3. However, Civ2, CtP and CtP2 all have straight railways, so I'm not bothered really

Thanks for the comments!
Been away for awhile... My next project is the plains irrigation. It took me 3 days to do the grasslands ... well probably more like 8 or 9 hours ... so I figure I'll be a bit faster on plains.
I'm planning on the plains irrigation to be more browns and yellows and less green. Desert irrigation to be sparse greens.

Re: GRAPHICS: New Terrain Graphics
I like your new graphics. I'm hoping you have insomnia again real soon so you can tackle the plains and desert as well. Thanks for making the effort.

I always thought straight railways were aesthetically boring. Just an opinion.

This may sound funny, but i actually agree.
However, the demand for them is there, and it is something i can actually do, so doing it i am
But lets get back to talking about irrigation (sorry for thread-jacking ) and when i open my Civ2 style railway mod, you can say its aesthetically boring there

I'll be sure to do so.
Back to the point, has anyone thought about making irrigation look like suburbs?

I thought about having them form little towns. You can sort of predict how the irrigation tiles will be layed out based on the number of other irrigation tiles surrounding them. Not always though.

Re: GRAPHICS: New Terrain Graphics
I didn't want to wait for you get insomnia again so I took the liberty of playing with the hue/saturation levels of your graphics. I haven't done the tundra yet. But then again, how are you supposed to irrigate frozen ground? Unless of course the desired crop is a skating rink!
I didn't get a chance to see the desert irrigation before I posted this. Now that I have, I think it sucks. The Plains looks alright though.

Actually, I can't get winzip to unzip it, even if I call in a .zip. What's up?

There's some problems with the files at the moment. Some work, some don't. If you can track down Gramphos at his Civ3CopyTool thread, he might be able to help you.

Could someone with the Willem files post it on Civfanatics forum?
It can be on the end of Zeb's thread there. Here's the address:
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showth...threadid=12391
Maybe there we can download it without troubles with the damm attachment file we get here and always is a zip corrupted file when you change the extension to .zip.
Thanx for any help.
And... Great work you guys!!

Yeah, thumbs up, looks really neat. It's a pity, though, that the roads and railways are on top of the cute little houses.

Irrigation coverup
Try cassembler's thin brown roads. They work quite nicely with the irrigation overlays.

Yup! Looks much better with the thin roads. Granted! But they're still running over the roofs of the houses, sadly. It's probably pretty complicated to change
