Out of the list you provided I voted for MOO3.

Age of Wonders 2 would be second. The first installment was pretty cool. I liked AoW much better than the HOMM series.

I don't know though. Ever since the Civ3 hype and letdown I'm a little jaded when it comes to new games. I'm not buying anything until I either play a demo or hear from a trusted source that the game is cool or not.

Yup.

Hype, rep, past glory, all mean nothing. . .

The proof is in the product. . .

I won't buy a game until its been thoroughly beta-tested by unsuspecting gamers

Games I'm looking forward to:

1) Uncommon Valor and War in the Pacific by Matrix

2) Superpower

3) Medieval Total War

Rock on Leonidas!

According to www.ebgames.com Superpower is due to ship 3/27/02. Medieval Total War is another game on my must have list too. If it is even 50% as good as Shogun Total War I'll buy it sight unseen!

Games I'm looking forward to:

- Heroes of Might & Magic 4 (great for hotseat)
- Age of Mythology (those mythological units and the deitieswill it really interesting IMO)
- Praetorians (from what I've read it sounds better than Medieval Total War)
- Stars! Supernova Genesis (if it ever comes out)

MoO3, RoN and C&C Generals all sound interesting, but I don't know much about them yet

HoMM 4

WC3 - Which I can tell everyone is very good and I can't wait to see what they're going to do with the single player. Heroes make such a difference (plus that whole 4 races thing).

Lords of the Realm 3 - It'll be while

NCAA 2003 - If they just change one or two things from last year it will be one of the best football games ever.

RoN - I want to see what they can do with this

C&C: General - check out this article http://extra.gamespot.co.uk/pc.games...tg_ccgenerals/ and this preview http://www.gamespot.co.uk/stories/pr...106395,00.html

BTW, Renegade is out and doesn't support Voodoo cards AFAIK. The demo would not run on many Voodoo cards, and the ones it did were really shaky.

I've read those articles and it sounds very promising and the graphics look very good, yet only very few features in this game seems to be set in stone yet. I wonder what effect the introduction of bulldozers (basically villagers like in AoE) is going to have.
What I don't really like is the real world szenario with the US, possibly China and a terrorist fraction... but as long as gameplay is good I won't care much.

BTW what do you mean with the 4 races thing in HoMM4? IIRC there are more than that.

You must've missed the WC3, meaning Warcraft 3, which is another game I'm looking forward to.

If the previews are correct, General will have planes that must avoid skyscrapers!

I've had a chance to give the WarCraft 3 Beta a quick spin... and I must say, it was pretty disapointing.

Although I barely got to play, it seems like they've not really done anything new. The only new thing is the heros, and how they gain levels, items, and abilities - which, if you ask me is really out of place in the game and doesn't reall add anything. Aside from that, it is basically the same as warcraft or starcraft, not even any new concepts or quirks to the races as far as I can tell, either. Also, I wasn't impressed by the graphics, they look good and all but I think they went overboard with it, it being 3D adds absolutely nothing - infact, it can make the raised elevations quite large and annoying.

Oh, and you can't even build walls - what the hell good are towers if you can't have walls?

No one really builds defensive structures anyway...

Are you forgetting the Undead and Nightelves?
The plunder ability?
The steam engine?
The multiple spell casters?
The different unit specific upgrades?
The mercenaries?

What I really can't wait for is the campaign though. That should be awesome. Plus all of the heroes really have personality, giving it a much more humanistic feel.

I'd like you to play a game of Warcraft 2, then play WC3, and see how different they really are. Time distorts perceptions. Remember, there next to nill differences between the Orcs and Humans in WC 2.

Haupt. Dietrich: I've got my hopes on Superpower. Hope it lives up to the hype. . .

Medieval Total War looks like it's shaping up to be quite an ambitious game. The subject matter is very appealing. . .

It would be great if they could adapt the game engine to cover Rome vs Carthage (Punic Wars) and Caesar's Conquests. . .

The thought of seeing the sun glint off the shields of Roman legions marching into battle, gives me Spartacus flashbacks. . .

Isn't that why we have Americans who always get everything first?

Osweld: I don't think you could build walls in WC2 either unless it was in an MP game. Something to do with Blizzards AI routines I think.

I'm most looking forward to Moo3 (and EU2 of course, if EB ever manages to get hold of it for me ) and possibly NWN for nostalgic purposes.

Any other good war/strategy games in the pipeline?
