multiplayer question
whenever i play a tcp/ip multiplayer game, the workshop auto-designs units for me whether i like it or not, no matter what i set in preferences. how can this be changed?

The preferences set by the host can overide the other player's preferences.

First the bad news: You cannot change certain behaviors in MP, including but certainty not limited to automatic unit design, always stop at monoliths, fast battles/movement.
Unfortunately there is no good news on this front, you pretty much just have to live with it.
