Do Pikemen get a bonus vs Mounted units?
In Civ 2, Pikemen were Phalanxes with a 50% defensive bonus against units with a movement rate of 2.
In Civ 3, Pikemen are simply 1/3/1 units. Or are they?
Rumours here have said that they get a defensive bonus against mounted units. Is that true?

AFAIK
all the units have no special bonus againt other types of units
(tho, i could be wrong)

There is no flag in the editor for bonus vs. mounted units. The only 'attack bonus' in the game as far as I know is vs. barbarians, and that is based on difficulty level.

Go to civilopedia. Click Pikeman. Read Unit Stats.
Alternately. Click Science Advisor. Right-Click Feudalism. Click Pikeman.
If that is still confusing, ask fireaxis to define the meaning of "especially". I'm too fed up with the overly vague documentation myself to even bother.
It is as equally useful as "nuisance" and "minimal".

Yes, the documentation in Civiliopedia is strange about Pikeman, but from my expereince, they get a bonus vs. mounted. Not that I'm sure, but for some reason, my Knights had very tough time vs. Pikemen, and Cavalry beat them just about like Musketmen. I *think* Pikemen defense of 3 becomes 4 vs. mounted units, but am unsure. Firaxis?

no it seems only so because they have a better defense but i dont think they have any bonus against mounted units.unless the programmers putted the the defense string from civ2 for the pikeman
