I play Civ III because it was a Christmas present.
As an SP game only, I would have never bought.
I play Civ II MP at night, which is my dedicated relaxation time.

I loved Civ2, but Civ3 hasn't got hold of me the same way. why I don't know... you may think I'm mad but the wonder movies in Civ2 and SMAC really entertained and motivated me... I wanted to see them all again and again.

Gone back to games that can quicken my pulse the way Civ3 can't. Stronghold is the newest and its proving a good challenge and more of a laugh. Also had a few friends round the other night and they wanted to shoot and kill things, I don't go big on FPS, but we ran through a few Hidden and Dangerous missions and I'd forgotten how good and how difficult it was.

I'm sure that if everyone used a machine identical to the one on which Civ3 was developed, we would have no major bugs, etc.
True, but some of the bugs would have been visable no matter who's computer or hardware configuration you played on. (Air superiority, coastal fortress etc.) Games for consoles may not be perfect, but will always have fewer bugs than PC games because the software companies realize that it is not possible to fix it once it is realeased. So, of course, they always try and do the best job. It just shows the bad side of the ability to patch a game.

well there was no poll for nothing. so I voted given up on TBS

But I play no games currently. I can't seem to find the time. *****ing about games at apolyton seems to take up most of my free time

But I'm bored of all computer games. I'm going over my brother's house to play the x-box. I may end up buying one. The last console I owned was the sega genesis way back in the 90's. I usually don't like console games. But I'm beginning to wonder if they are in fact superior to PC games. The only thing I wish is they had more "adult" type games (no not nudie games- just mature games). I doubt I will ever see a Fallout type game on the x-box.

Civ 3 still. That's all.

OTH, I am still on just my THIRD game (since 10/31), started this one about 12/1. Yes, it is long and drawn out, but I'm playing it with patience -- while at the same time trying to see how I can speed up a win.

I have put civIII back on the shelf, it just isn't fun! Can you believe it?

The games I play currently are:

Combat Mission:Beyond Overlord.......if you are interested in WWII sims......goto battlefront.com and download the demo, its an awesome game

and of course, like many others have said
I'm playing Baldur's Gate.

I really wanted to enjoy civIII (such I was such a fan of civII and Smac) but I can't get into it. It takes too long to play the game, and to be honest, I miss the damn wonder movies---they really set a mood. When I first got the game, I attempted to get my wife involved, thinking that with the historical pagentry (as in Civ II) that she would really enjoy it. Well let me tell, when I built the pyramids and that movie didn't start with the cool music, it was a let down. I know, seems a nit-picky, or irrelevant point, but without the bells and whistles, I just can't get into it!

Should be more government choices too----is there any reason why would want to be anything other than a democ?? boring

Wow, a lot of people like the wonder movies - I only ever watched one in my whole time playing, but then again there isn't time when you're playing multiplay civ2. There are less and less people playing it though, and I find few people challenging to play. Always looking for more players though. I think I've completely given up on civ3, and TBS in general - gone back to playing Champ Manager and emulating some old games I used to play back on the Amiga. Wonder if and when a new TBS game is going to hook me the way civ1/2 did, maybe it's not going to happen.

Championship Manager - a football (or "soccer" to some) manager game. Highly addictive..

I play EU2 btw. Will maybe get CivIII soon (if the response to the patches are good)

Given up on TBS, but only for the time being (until MOO3 and HOMM4 come out, and EUII got a few more patches).

Currently I play Galactic Battlegrounds. It´s a (greatly) improved AoK set in the Star Wars Universe. And no, Venger, it´s not just click-click , the game has a lot of tactical depth, beating some other games I could mention by leaps and bounds in that department.

For those not familiar with the AoK/GB system: Units have values for Attack, Range, Armour against close combat weapons, Armour against ranged weapons, Hitpoints, Speed; each unit category has specific advantages/disadvantages against each other unit category; new techs not just give you new units, they also add modifiers to existing ones, making them superior to the same unit without the tech. At the end of the day, combat results are what you would expect; wish I could say that of every TBS.

EU2 6-8 hours a day. Also playing some HOMM3 and MM6-8 again, waiting for HOMM 4. Civ is still installed, hoping for a patch that makes it fun.

61% still play Civ 3. (Unscientific poll)

Kind of shoots down the theory that most people have quit Civ3.

But compared with what? Maybe Havard or one of the other EU2 fans could do a similar poll on their forum and then you'd get a better idea of how addictive Civ3 is.

I'm still playing civ III but once this current game is finished I'm planning to head back to Civ II multiplayer.

I just feel like I'm wasting my time playing civ III because of the yawning flaws in gameplay.

I've been messing around with Capitalism 2 and Flight Simulator 2002. They both have rather demanding up-front learning curves, which is not fitting into my 2 gaming hours/night schedule very well. So while I inch my way through those games, I fire up some Virtual Pool 3 and have some no-brainer throughly entertaining attempts to increase my ranking.

Civ3? Hey, let's get serious. Maaaybe come Gold Edition the thing will be worth another look.

Like many I've not played Civ 3 for a while. Not because I don't like it but I just can't be bothered with it. I'll play it again though without doubt.

I was playing RTCW but finished that. So it's back to Deus Ex (the best game ever imo) and CM 01/02 while I wait for Medal of Honor: Allied Assault to be released.

Still love Civ3 despite some minor issues. I for one am not ashamed to admit that this title will probably stay on my hard drive for quite some time, even when MOO3 comes out! (Which I intend to buy of course!)

However today I learned of a new WW2 scenario for Civ2 ToT. Definately will give it a try tonight. I found it on Civfanatics.com check it out.

Are these all turn based strategy games? I was under the impression that at least two of these were RTS games. I would like to see another turn based strategy game since I enjoy them a lot. For some reason the shops I go to never have any that I can see.

I still play Civ3 but with the Driefel-mod. But it´s so sloooow with the huge map and all so I will go back to SMAC/X as soon as I get it back from my buddy. Besides that I love Monkey Island/Grim Fandango I can play them again just for the laughs Also History of the World (the computerized boardgame) Balls of Steel (Pinball)

I´ve also dabbled with Tiberian Sun, Dune 2K and Starcraft. But I just get stressed out of my skull with real time stuff

Oh! I almost forgot the Gold Edition of Civ2, the dinosaur scenario is a real side splitter But why isn´t there a Russian Revolution/Civil War scenario? I also want to shoot the tsar and gun down the Kronstadt sailors
