Should I download the patch???
I have the out the box version. After reading here a bit I think I should have waited to buy this game but it's too late. So I ask should I download the patch? I am having no problems with the OTB version.

Personally, I think the patch is great. Less corruption, and faster turns. The OTB version doesn't let you turn off the very the very slow animations, which can eat up your game time. I played an OTB game that I could walk away fix dinner and come back before the my turn was going to start.

You know the bad voices are crying loudest.
So get the patch and have fun. There will always be someone to complain and they will always be here on Apolyton.

You can find a list of the fixes here. Download if these interest you.

no need for worrying if its opened and cannot be returned, put it up on ebay like i did and let some poor bastard make a bid on it,, youll make at least 3/4 of your money back, and for keepsakes, make a clone copy and distribute it to everyone you hate, its the perfect insult

Nah I cannot sell the game. i like it too much. But it did crash on me for the first time last night during diplomacy. I need to turn the music off and I think that I should have no problems with the game.

Definitely get the patch. And have a look in the /strategy forum for the real lowdown on the game.

I played with the patch and had to uninstall it after discovering the patch's tech-trading bug which allows enemy civ's to trade during your turn. Of course playing without the patch sucks, too. Right now, I'm not playing the game at all. If Firaxis doesn't do the right thing soon and come out with another patch, I'm going to take eccentricity's suggestion and sell the damn game on Ebay.

Does the patch fix any of the fundimental problems with the game? No.
Does it fix some of the most annoying rough edges? Heck yeah!
