What's your favorite Civ game?
What is your favorite Civ game so far? I've only played Civ2, SMAC, and Civ3, and I would have to say Civ2 was the best out of the three. Civ2 was the first 'Civ' game for me and it greatly intrigued me. SMAC was an average game for me because I didn't really enjoy the whole space/fantasy aspect of it. I just couldn't really relate to the game all that much. Civ3 is a good game but it's just not ready to be played yet. You have to remember that they just now are entering the beta process for the game, so give Firaxis and Civ3 a break.

On the other hand, is it really so difficult simply to accept everything that one has been brought up on and that has gradually struck deep roots – what is considered truth in the circle of moreover, really comforts and elevates man? Is that more difficult than to strike new paths, fighting the habitual, experiencing the insecurity of independence and the frequent wavering of one’s feelings and even one’s conscience, proceeding often without any consolation, but ever with the eternal goal of the true, the beautiful, and the good? - F.N.

By the way, was there ever a big scenario movement with SMAC? I figure it would be very difficult to switch 3d terrain graphics.
So far SMAC is in the lead...
with no mods/ scenarios...

Civ2 needed patches too before it got the game we loved.

Civ 2 all the way. Civ 3 simply does not measure up. And the only big change the patches for civ 2 ever made were removing zone of control ingore from settlers. Civ 2 all the way.

If I recall it corretcly, the patch also had more little changes. For example, it fixed some incorrects attacks values.
But I must agree with you. The patch was not very important and Civ2 is the better Civs game.

Civ2! It grabbed you from the start and had that epic feel about it.
Whose idea was it to remove the wonder movies?!

Civ II, strictly because it's MP.
Otherwise, it would have been III easily.
