Alright, you computer nerds out there, I need some help. I just recently got a DSL connection, and a fairly crappy firewall/router. Does anyone know what UDP/TCP ports you have to open to be able to host and/or join a game of Alpha Centauri across the internet?
Question 2, can you multiplay SMAC 4.0 and SMAX 2.0 in classic mode this way? (I never tried this while I was LANning)
I just spent the most frustrating hour and a half using a packet sniffer to determine whatports the game was trying to talk on to my friends PC, and then realized that maybe we were also having (or maybe purely having) software version conflicts.
I know I was able to play SMAC across an internet connection about a year ago, when all I had was a router.
