I expected something like this. There is really no change that you can run the game without the regesty. At least I know where I get a unpatched version of the ctp2.exe

But another question was someone able to open the QT.dat, padpad.dat, germ2.dat. I expected that the QT.dat is an archive because of its size, but so far no luck.

IW, you just rename the file to whatever extention fits the file format that you suspect the file to be, in this case .zip then open the file with whatever app you preffer.

QT.dat, padpad.dat, germ2.dat ...
they are on the cd? if so, my guess is that either it's ziped files or some format used by the installer.

Well they are available on the ctp1-cd as standard .avi-files, the whole lot taking up some 263 Mb, with names like Cx##A.avi where the x is the type u=unit, a=advance etc and ## is a number. The names and what they represent is founde in the *icon.txt files.

I think the point being that I don’t have ctp 1 and that’s why I am looking for them I don’t see the point in getting the game (for five pounds Stirling) to get a few things of and filing the cd

Well, I've never seen QT.dat but I do have a very large acti.dat; might have something to do with the fact that I have an American version of the game (straight from Activision HQ) and you have a German version. In any case, all those files are empty *.wav files (empty, as in they have so sound on them, all you 'hear' when you run them is silence). RealPlayer can't handle them and Windows Media Player can only handle some, but judging from the header files, they're all *.wav's of some sort (perhaps they're damaged?)
