you bet, I'm back. as soon as I free up some hard drive space, civ2 is going back on my hard drive. although I'll probably just delete civ3 to free up the space . I still have hopes though...

I don't think many people have left. The Civ 2 section has picked up recently - now the hype over Civ 3 has subsided.

Yeah... activity has been up...
I'm still here, because I don't have a choice in the matter
But seriously, I still play Civ II MP... and it's going to be a while before Civ III is available for MP

yeah I just looked at how few threads there were. there are less in the strategy part.
I should pick up the MP version. I probably can find it real cheap in a bargain bin.

I am about ready to go back to Civ 2.
I have a CivIII game in progress and I find myself dreading to go back to it a little
more each time. The program takes ages to load, you can't see the clock, the
animation slows the game down, response is slow. Want to talk to the advisors?
Just click on the balloon, then wait....
One thousand one...
One thousand two....
One thousand three...
(yawn)....

Just came back to Civ II after a five-month hiatus (playing Civ III, Caesar III, and the Sims)... still as fun as ever.
I've already joined the Democratic Game.
BTW: Not only do I still have Civ III installed, I alternate between playing that and Civ II now.

i am trying to find a mod pack to make civ3 a lil less dull.
problem when they release a crap and over hyped sequeasl, is it always has some features that make it to hard to go back, but no enough that make you want to stay

Yes, long live civ2
Dont' forget the succession games, I great way to enjoy civ2 and write some nice stories. There's the invasion earth and the True gift of the gods here in the general forum and two (fantasy and sci-fi) in the ToT forum.
Whenever I reread those stories, I get a kick and want to play again

Hope springs eternal?? Firaxis stuck us with an inherently flawed beta test version and called it Civ III.
By Summer there will likely be more people playing Civ II than play Civ 3!
Civ II was FUN, challenging, and beter in so many ways. Plus we had a Cheat Mode (useful for a lot more than "cheating") and scenario-building.
