Oh we had a ball - 3 little boys and a father with the maturity of a 5 year old, no Mrs Horse, no baby
Caught a few fish, raced around like mad things, slept like logs, didn't bathe, didn't shave, lol.

That doesn't sound like a big departure from your normal routine.

Three little boys - four, if you count Pop - with a couple of days' growth. The thought is chilling.

We stayed at Tuross Heads with my Great Aunt Marie and Uncle Phil for 2 nights and then we went down to Eden to see the whale museum, little boys like big skeletons, then we went home via the Snowy mountains highway, up through Cooma. Canberra is only 2 and half hours from Bega.
Didn't go to Tathra this time. Tuross is superb. Its got everything - good surfing beaches, 2 big lakes and a river. My Aunt's house is a stone's throw from Coila Lake with a beautiful northerly view over the lake and sea.
Uncle Phil was a circus performer - his father owned a circus around the early years of last century but it went broke because he thought keeping animals in cages was cruel and wouldn't keep any. Before that his father and his father's brothers were in the US and part of Barnum and Bailey's circus in its heyday as gymnasts. Uncle Phil told me the training for circus animals was very cruel in those days.
Uncle Phil was a gymnast in the circus until he got too old for it and became a clown. He got a job spruiking for Woolworths and Lowes and had some minor fame in Sydney for spruiking dressed as a clown on stilts. I vaguely remember it. He's 80 years old now but very fit.

How come all the place names in your country sound like something from a Sci-fi novel?

Might as well be - its a tiny little town near Albury where makeo lives.
I told him I was going but he didn't invite me over, he just emphasised what a long drive it was from Granya to his place

Hey finbar, got any tips for opening rock oysters? I brought back 3 dozen from the coast and if I stab my hand one more time with the oyster knife I'm going to have to go to casualty.
I used to know how to do it but I've forgotten.

1. First and foremost. Of utmost importance. Wear a glove on the hand holding the oyster. Or wrap the hand in a tea towel. Or something.
2. Hold the oyster firmly on a flat surface. Insert the knife into the corner where the shell hinges, lever gently and slide the knife around.
3. If all else fails, leave the oyster somewhere within 10,000 kms of Deity. He will sneak up on it and attack it.

Yeah, you're supposed to use one of those fancy carbon gloves, ya git!
Either that or just buy the damn things shucked...surprised Fin's ever seen one in the shell.

Thanks - I'm going in through the hinge but I had one last night that was just too difficult.
Carbon gloves? Oh please
Tea towel sounds more like the ticket.

Napisan should get the blood off the tea towel. You'd have a couple of tonnes of Napisan around the place, no doubt.
