Histograph observation / tip
I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but the Histograph screen can be useful in preparing for peace treaty negotiations/ extortions.
The initial screen's bar graph shows "Score". At the bottom, switch it to show "Power". Do not attempt to extort any civ whose color bar is wider than yours unless you want to wind up paying THEM something for peace or go to war with them.
I wish there was a numerical representation of Power. The more civs in your game, the more difficult it becomes to eyeball the color bars and determine your relative power.
